Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Yesterday afternoon we held our annual 'St. Theresa's Got Talent' in the hall - a show that is run by the kids for the kids! There was definitely a wide range of diverse talent on show, from jokes to classical violin and piano and it was a very entertaining afternoon. The show is produced and run by our senior leaders and anyone across the school is encouraged to perform. It was heartwarming to see how supportive the children were of each other and how confident they were to share their 'talent'.
Last Thursday, the Parumoana Speech Competition was held at Discovery School. Jacob Song represented St. Theresa's and we are very proud of him. It was a busy day for Jacob as he had to leave straight away to get to the EPro8 finals. Our EPro8 team came 3rd overall in the Regionals, which is a great achievement.
Next week is very busy with our end of year celebrations. Please keep an eye on the calendar so you don't miss anything.
Tomorrow we will draw the Christmas raffle at our final Assembly for the year. Thanks to everyone who has bought and/or sold tickets; there is still time to purchase tickets before the draw so let Gina know if you need any more. We also have a kids' raffle and the children can buy tickets from their teachers or the Office. These 10 bonus prizes will also be drawn tomorrow. A huge thank you once again, to Libby Baker for co-ordinating our raffles this year.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 10th December, 2023
Second Sunday of Advent
Mark 1:1-8
In this Sunday’s Gospel, John the Baptist told people to prepare because 'another mightier than I will come after me; He will baptize with the Holy Spirit'. During Advent, we affirm John’s message by 'preparing the way of the Lord' in our own lives. We seek forgiveness for our sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and look for ways in which we can be better followers of Jesus. In our words and actions, we hope to be like John the Baptist in leading others to Jesus. - Loyola Press
Jingle bells, jingle bells

Learning Hub Report from Sarah Hunt, our Librarian
Learning Hub (Week 9) roundup
Our annual stocktake is complete and our entire library stock has been scanned. All outstanding loans are now due so please arrange return of these to the Learning Hub. Please note we do not have any overdue fees or charges. We do however, charge for lost or badly damaged books so we can replace these for the library.
Please call or email sarahh@stp.school.nz if you have any concerns in this regard or feel your books may indeed be lost.
Summer Reading Programme Loans
This is well underway with books being selected class by class. All are being packaged up and parcels will come home next week - Week 10. It is not too late if you wish to add your child to the lists for this program. Please email me sarahh@stp.school.nz or send in the permission slip to their classroom teacher.
Book donations/Lasting legacies
We are always incredibly grateful to the families who donate a book to the library - thank you to all those who have done so already this year and to those who have messaged me asking how to go about selecting a book to donate.
If you want to donate a book can I ask you to take a browse of the catalogue here to check if we already have the title you are considering.
Alternatively, we have an ever growing wishlist of titles at The Children’s Bookshop which you could get some inspiration from. Budgets never cover all our wishes so these lists are just some we have had an eye on this year - You can View the wishlist here.
Graphic novels are always a popular selection.
All donated books have a named donation label fitted to the inside cover of the book. A lasting legacy from you to our school. Thank you!!!
Christmas Display 2023
Feel free to come view the library Christmas display. The Hub Leaders had a great time on Monday creating and decorating!
As always the Book Tree is centre stage.
