Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Today we have our reunification drill. This drill is part of our Health and Safety plan. These scheduled exercises are designed to prepare schools, students and parents for the process of reuniting students with their families following an emergency or crisis situation. Your child needs to be collected from Mo Street, Plimmerton Heights at 2p.m. All children catching the bus or going to After School Care will return to school with the staff. Thanks to Deb Neave, our Civil Defence rep, for co-ordinating this.
Currently the Board of Trustees is reviewing our strategic plan. A copy of the current plan can be found on our website. Please take a moment to comment on our strategic aims through this quick survey.

Yesterday we had a large group of Year 5 and 6 children represent St. Theresa's at the Parumoana Athletics Day held at Adventure Park. We had some great results and all of the children displayed our SPARK values in all of their interactions throughout the day. Thanks to Trish Fitzsimons for co-ordinating this event and Iris Gair and Lucy Tohill who stayed behind and helped pick up rubbish, ensuring we left the park in a neat and tidy state.
Just a reminder: we have our Christmas Family Fun Night next Thursday at school from 5 - 7p.m. Come along and have your dinner cooked for you! There will be lots of yummy food and Christmas decorations for sale, Christmas carols, fun games and a special visit from Santa. This is a cash only event.
Our thanks go to Sarah Davies for the Kids Artworks initiative. This is a great fundraiser for the school and the children love seeing their artwork made into calendars and cards, etc.
Have a great weekend.

Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 24:14-30
In Maths, we have been learning about probability and we have been playing a few different games to try and figure out if games are fair or not. Some things seem unfair because we are losing but everyone has a fair chance of winning. It's lots of fun.
Earthquake and Reunification Drill
TODAY, we will be holding an Earthquake Evacuation and Reunification Drill,as part of our school emergency plan.
Following an earthquake drill at school, each class will evacuate the building and walk up Grays Road to Mo Street in Plimmerton Heights. Your child needs to be collected from Mo Street at 2 pm.
Your Role in this Drill:
- Collect your child/ren at 2 pm from Mo Street on the day of the drill. Collection point will be outside the row of containers on the left (see attached map).
- If you are unable to collect your child/children, you need to organise for one of your contacts to do this. This must be someone on your child’s emergency/civil defence contact list that you checked and updated at the start of the year, at our request. Please note: Your child will only be released to adults listed on your emergency contact list.
If your child needs to catch the bus or is attending our After School Care Programme, they will return to school in time with a teacher. All other children not collected will return to school with the staff.
This is also a perfect opportunity for your family to discuss and plan your own family earthquake plan.
Mystery Jars - Please keep these coming in!
What is a Mystery Jar?
The explanation is in the title! It is a jar filled with unknown contents, but always lots of fun, tasty, cool, crafty things!
The process:
- Find a clean, empty jar
- Decide what fun surprises you want to fill it with! Some suggestions / ideas:
- a balloon, a stamp, a few lollies
- stickers, a notebook, a fancy pen
- a small hairbrush, hair ties and a bow
- a toy car, a small water pistol, a packet of water balloons
- uncooked rice with a $5 note tucked into the middle!
- THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS!
- Wrap your filled jar in a creative way – let your imagination run wild!
- Drop off to the school office ready for the Christmas Fun Night!
This is a fantastic activity for your children to be part of! Get them in the spirit of giving by creating a jar for some OTHER lucky child to unwrap!

When? 2.45pm – 5.30pm. Monday
Cost? $20 per day with a discount of 10% for siblings.
Early pick up (4p.m.) - $10 per child
There will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.
As we need to arrange extra staffing and food when our numbers go over certain ratios, we ask that the following procedure is followed:
- Please let us know by 12.30p.m., via email to ASC asc2021@stp.school.nz or text (021-08563504) Hannah if your child is not attending a session they have been booked in to. If your child is sick on a day they are booked in, please add ASC when you email the office so that they can be removed from the roll for that day. Due to the costs involved with increased numbers, there will be a $10 non-notification fee applied.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Hannah, the programme manager, in the Hall.
