The 2024 Fair date and theme have been set and we are ready to start the planning. The date will be Saturday, 16th March, 2024 and the theme will be green for St. Patrick's Day. We have a co-ordinating team all set to go and they would love to have you join them on Thursday, 29th November at 7p.m. in the staffroom for a planning meeting. Please come along and find out how you might be able to help.
We are always really proud when we hear of the achievements of our former students. Congratulations to Danielle Hockings, Head of Kura at Kapiti College and Belle Croasdale, senior leadership at Kapiti College for 2024. We are doubly proud because they are the daughters of our 2 Shonas - Mrs. Hockings and Mrs. Croasdale.
Just a reminder, Monday is our Ministry of Education staff only day so there will be no school for the children.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 12th November, 2023
Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 25:1-13
Jesus tells the parable of the wise and foolish virgins, teaching His disciples the importance of being prepared to receive the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus is telling us through this parable that we must always be prepared for the second coming. Reflecting on this Gospel, we can think about how prepared we are for this. Do we pray, receive the sacraments, are we examples of Jesus in the world and if not what do we need to adjust?
Ditch the unifom TOMORROW - Friday, 10th November!
Yay!! No school uniform TOMORROW (10th November) as this is a 'Your Choice Clothing Day'. Please remember to bring along a 'Christmassy' donation for the privilege of not having to wear uniform, instead of the usual gold coin. All donations are for the Christmas Raffle being drawn at our final Assembly and we're asking for sauces, wine, chocolates, biscuits, crackers, nuts, etc. - anything that you're likely to get in a lovely Christmas hamper. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support.
Double gate by the Prayer Garden
If entering or leaving the school grounds via this particular gate, we ask that you please make sure it is pulled closed.
REUNIFICATION DRILL - VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
PLAN FOR THIS IMPORTANT EVENT NOW!
Earthquake and Reunification Drill
On Thursday, 16th November, we will be holding an Earthquake Evacuation and Reunification Drill,as part of our school emergency plan.
Following an earthquake drill at school, each class will evacuate the building and walk up Grays Road to Mo Street in Plimmerton Heights. Your child needs to be collected from Mo Street at 2 pm.
Your Role in this Drill:
- Collect your child/ren at 2 pm from Mo Street on the day of the drill. Collection point will be outside the row of containers on the left (see attached map).
- If you are unable to collect your child/children, you need to organise for one of your contacts to do this. This must be someone on your child’s emergency/civil defence contact list that you checked and updated at the start of the year, at our request. Please note: Your child will only be released to adults listed on your emergency contact list.
If your child needs to catch the bus on that day or is attending our After School Care Programme, they will return to school in time with a teacher. All other children not collected will return to school with the staff.
This is also a perfect opportunity for your family to discuss and plan your own family earthquake plan.
Mystery Jars - Keep everyone guessing!
What is a Mystery Jar?
The explanation is in the title! It is a jar filled with unknown contents, but always lots of fun, tasty, cool, crafty things!
The process:
- Find a clean, empty jar
- Decide what fun surprises you want to fill it with! Some suggestions / ideas:
- a balloon, a stamp, a few lollies
- stickers, a notebook, a fancy pen
- a small hairbrush, hair ties and a bow
- a toy car, a small water pistol, a packet of water balloons
- uncooked rice with a $5 note tucked into the middle!
- THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS!
- Wrap your filled jar in a creative way – let your imagination run wild!
- Drop off to the school office ready for the Christmas Fun Night!
This is a fantastic activity for your children to be part of! Get them in the spirit of giving by creating a jar for some OTHER lucky child to unwrap!
Each family will have been given a book of 10 raffle tickets to sell. There are lots of prizes to be won and the draw will take place on Friday, 8th December at our final Assembly. Some families have already returned their sold books and taken more - thank you so much!
Just a heads up - raffle tickets can be paid for by cash, Eftpos at the Office or directly into our School bank account (12 3254 0109325 00). If paying by internet banking, please write across the envlope containing the butts, that this is what you have done, please put the date of payment and return them to school.
Extra books are available to anyone who feels they could sell more.
Many thanks in advance for your support.

Learning Hub Report from Sarah Hunt, our Librarian
Join Ella and her friend Grace on their trip to London for an art show. Everything starts off fine until Grace's artwork goes missing and from the same gallery a priceless artwork! Can Ella, Grace and their new friend solve the two mysteries? Maybe there's more to it than it seems!
My favourite character in the story is Ella because she loves solving mysteries and likes writing like me. I really enjoyed this book and I couldn't put it down. I would read it for hours. My favourite part in the story is when the friends finally solve the mystery. This story will put you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what will happen next. I would recommend this book for 8 - 12 year olds wanting to read a story and solve a mystery as you read.
