Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Our Year 5 and 6 students enjoyed their sessions on bike safety. This has been a fantastic opportunity for many of our students to learn new skills in a safe environment. Thanks to all of you who were able to transport their bikes to and from school and to Deb Neave for co-ordinating the opportunity.
Have a great weekend and "Go the mighty ABs"!
Nga mihi

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 29th October, 2023
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 22:34-40
In this Sunday’s Gospel, the Pharisees continue to question Jesus and try to trick him. They ask Jesus what commandment is the greatest. Jesus’ response is that the commandments can be summarised by 'Love your God and Love your Neighbour'. In Jesus’ response, He is telling us that when we love our neighbour, we are visible signs of God's love in the world. We are called in this Gospel, to share our love for God by loving all those we encounter.
This week we are thrilled to welcome two new students - one each to Rooms 1 & 2.
Cecelia Zhao, daughter of Ricky and Micky and sister of Nicole in Room 4;
Leo Pham, son of Arnie and Rachel.
We all wish you many happy days and great memories here at St. T's!

Children's Bring and Buy Day - Update/Info
Bring and Buy Day: Thursday, 2nd November 2023
Every year, the Year 5 & 6 students run a Bring & Buy Day as a fundraiser to support their camp costs. This year we will be using the money for the deposit for Camp 2024. Rooms 9 & 10 work together to organise this fun day. They run the stalls in the hall where pre-loved toys and books are onsold. They also create games with prizes for the children and will also be selling delicious edible items. Just like a Mini Carnival but just for children!
This is a CASH ONLY event and we ask that you please send along COINS and not notes.
Our Kids Online follow up information
As mentioned by Donna previously, the Our Kids Online information is attached.
Firstly, a BIG thank you to Sarah Davies who co-ordinated this initiative. We really appreciate your hard work and effort and are sure that everyone will love the products they ordered. Also, thank you to all the families who placed orders. We appreciate your support and isn't it nice to have some Christmas gifts sorted already!?

Christmas Raffle and Your Choice Clothing Day
Yesterday, your child will have been given a book of 10 raffle tickets to bring home for each family to sell. There are lots of prizes to be won and the draw will take place on Friday, 8th December at our final Assembly. As part of this initiative, we will be having a Your Choice Clothing Day on Friday, 10th November and will be asking for a 'Christmassy' donation from each child for the privilege of not having to wear uniform, instead of the usual gold coin. More details/suggestions about what you could donate will follow in upcoming newsletters.
Just a heads up - raffle tickets can be paid for by cash, Eftpos at the Office or directly into our School bank account (12 3254 0109325 00). If paying by internet banking, please write across the envlope containing the butts, that this is what you have done, please put the date of payment and return them to school.
Extra books are available to anyone who feels they could sell more.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Learning Hub Report from Sarah Hunt, our Librarian
Planning is underway for our annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) display. The Hub Leaders are creating artworks and trinkets for the display. You will see a beautiful altar created in the Learning Hub (LH).
Along with with All Souls Day and remembering loved ones who have left us, this festival aligns nicely and is celebrated in place of Halloween.
This beautiful poster has been created by Maya and will be a part of the LH display.
Dia De Los Muertos is a two day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (offerings), to honour their departed family members who have passed. These altars are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed and the favourite foods and drinks of the one being honoured. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods and join in the celebrations!

Where? Parish Hall
When? 2.45pm – 5.30pm. Monday
Cost? $20 per day with a discount of 10% for siblings.
Early pick up (4p.m.) - $10 per child
There will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.
As we need to arrange extra staffing and food when our numbers go over certain ratios, we ask that the following procedure is followed:
- Please let us know by 12.30p.m., via email to ASC asc2021@stp.school.nz or text (021-08563504) Hannah if your child is not attending a session they have been booked in to. If your child is sick on a day they are booked in, please add ASC when you email the office so that they can be removed from the roll for that day. Due to the costs involved with increased numbers, there will be a $10 non-notification fee applied.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Hannah, the programme manager, in the Hall.
The booking facility is on our website.
