Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Thank you to everyone who supported our final powhiri and Mass of Welcome for 2023. It is always a very special time welcoming our new students and their families. It can be a bit emotional in Term 4 as this is the last powhiri that our Year 6s will lead and is a time of reflection for them. We are very proud of the generous way they have shared their gifts and talents with the younger students in the school and their role modelling to our Year 5s who will step up as next year's leaders.
This year we will be participating in the National Shakeout Day on 16th November and will be holding a reunification drill. Information for this below:
Emergency Reunification Drill
As part of our school emergency plan, we need to hold a whole school Evacuation and Reunification Drill. This will be held on Thursday, 16th November. Your child needs to be collected from Mo Street, Plimmerton Heights at 2 pm.
Three things you need to do:
- Update your emergency contact details ASAP
- Collect your child/ren from Mo Street on the day of the drill at 2 pm. Collection point will be outside the row of containers on the left.
- Organise your emergency contact person to collect your child/children if you are unable to do so.
If your child needs to catch the bus on that day or is attending our After School Care programme, they will return to school with a teacher by 2.45p.m.
Please note: Your child will only be released to adults listed on your emergency contact list.
ASC: Our After School Care programme will not be running on the last day of school, Friday, 15th December. School finishes at 12.30p.m. on that day and there will be no staff on site.
Our School Fair 2024: We are still on the look out for a co-ordinator for our Fair next year. This could be a 2 person job and we already have a team of volunteers who just need a keen leader. Please get in touch if you think you may be interested in this role and/or need more information.
Have a wonderful long weekend - let's hope the sun stays out.
Nga mihi

Welcome to this week's new students
Four new students this week!
Finn Sugrue, son of Todd and Petra and brother of Pippa in Room 8;
Jax Faulke, son of Gavin and Lisa;
Mati Warkina, son of Malka and Lensa and brother of Yadani in Room 7;
Heath Carr, son of Matthew and Ashleigh.
Make many happy memories here at our lovely, wee school!
Rm 8 – Peter Pan Art
Last term, Ms. Neave read us the story of Peter Pan. Then Amelie’s mum brought a pop-up Peter Pan card back from her trip to Australia. We decided to try and make our own Peter Pan pop-up card. Mrs. Gear helped us by making the templates and painted examples for us to see. We love our Peter Pan creations!

Starting next Tuesday, 24th October, ALL children are expected to be wearing their correct summer uniform to school. This also means that every child needs to have their hat for outdoor play. A plain navy blue bucket or wide-brimmed hat is required. Please ensure your child brings theirs to school every day. No hat, no outside play.
Please check the school rules around hair and jewellery as well and a reminder that school hoodies are part of our PE uniform and may not be worn to and from school. We would appreciate your help to ensure that the correct uniform is worn at all times.
If you're unsure of anything to do with uniform, please check our website.
Kids Art Products available to order - time is running out!
Last chance to order Kids Art Products!
It's your last chance to order Kids Art Products with orders closing on Monday, 23rd October.
This is a hard close so that we can receive products in time for term end.
How to order?
Once you've logged onto the website (www.kidsartworks.com), you will need your child’s unique code that was on their form that was sent home last week. If you have lost your form, please contact Sarah Davies at vanders25@gmail.com - she will then give you your unique code again and instructions to log in.
Want to see what the products look like?
Samples of the products, including calendars, diaries, sketch pads, mouse mats and gift cards are available to view at the school office.
Please support this Parents & Friends fundraising effort.

Christmas Raffle and Your Choice Clothing Day
During next week, each family will receive a book of 10 raffle tickets to sell. There are lots of prizes to be won and the draw will take place on Friday, 8th December at our final Assembly! As part of this initiative, we will be having a Your Choice Clothing Day on Friday, 10th November and will be asking for a 'Christmassy' donation from each child for the privilege of not having to wear uniform, instead of the usual gold coin. More details/suggestions about what you could donate will follow in upcoming newsletters.
Just a heads up - raffle tickets can be paid for by cash, Eftpos at the Office or directly into our School bank account (12 3254 0109325 00). If paying by internet banking, please write across the envlope containing the butts, that this is what you have done and return them to school. Please return all sold books to the Office.
Extra books will be available to anyone who feels they could sell more.
Many thanks in advance for your support.

We are well-resourced and have planned and spontaneous activities that include baking, arts and crafts, quiet areas, science and outdoor physical/sporty activities.

Cost? $20 per day with a discount of 10% for siblings.
Early pick up (4p.m.) - $10 per child
There will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.

- Please let us know by 12.30p.m., via email to ASC asc2021@stp.school.nz or text (021-08563504) Hannah if your child is not attending a session they have been booked in to. Due to the costs involved with increased numbers, there will be a $10 non-notification fee applied.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Hannah, the programme manager, in the Hall.
