Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great refreshing break and the children are ready for a busy last 10 weeks.
On Tuesday we were very lucky to have the Scooter Ready Team in school working with our junior children.
The Scooter Ready programme teaches;
-
traffic awareness
-
footpath etiquette
-
looking for cars reversing out of driveways and
-
what to do at pedestrian crossings and intersections.
Next week they will be working with our senior children, teaching a similar programme with bikes.
Tonight we have the follow up session from Our Kids Online. This is going to be held in the staffroom at 5.30p.m. for approximately 2 hours. Although Rob Cope won't be presenting this session, we will be using the video content he has created from his presentation. This is an R18 presentation, so no children are allowed. There is plenty of room so if you are free, please come along.
We urgently require a co-ordinator for next year's School Fair. This is usually held in March and is a much anticipated annual event. Last year's March Madness was a huge success and many of the stall co-ordinaters have indicated they would be keen to help again. This is a role that could be shared and would be well supported. If you are interested in hearing more - with no commitment, please get in contact on donna@stp.school.nz.
Nga mihi

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 15th October, 2023
Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 22:1-14
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a wedding feast. In the parable that Jesus tells, people are invited to the feast but they ignore the invitation. New invitations get sent out to everyone and many come to the feast. We are taught in this Gospel that God is generous and loves us so much that He invites everyone to come to His table and share in His gifts. However, we are reminded that we are given free will and it is up to us to take up the call from God, to follow Him and live our lives the way He wants us to.
We have had a great start to Term 4. We loved scootering and learning new stopping skills. We learnt that you can stop fast when you do '1,2,3 feet'. We have been learning about St. Therese of Lisieux. She did little things the best she could, with great love. Even though she was little, she loved God with all her heart. We are following in St. Therese's footsteps and doing the little things the best we can.

New road markings in James Street
You may or may not have noticed that there are now new yellow lines on the bend at the top of James Street. This means that you may not park there anymore and could be ticketed if you do. As always, we ask that you obey the road rules.
Summer uniform in Terms 4 and 1
Just a reminder that children wear their summer uniform in these two terms however, there is a two week transition period. After Labour Weekend, we expect to see everyone in their correct uniform. If you're unsure of anything, please check our website.
Summer terms also means that every child needs to wear their hat when outdoors. A plain navy blue bucket hat or cap is required. Please ensure your child brings theirs to school every day. No hat, no play.
Welcome to this week's new students
This week, we are thrilled to welcome three new students to Rooms 1 and 2.
Nikolaos Barbarouses, son of George and Emma and brother of Jasmine in Room 8;
Gerick Erno, son of Erick and Genevieve;
Declan McCarthy, son of Tandi McCarthy and brother of Zoë.
We wish all of you many, many happy years as part of our St. T's community.
