Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
This week we celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. The theme of Kia Kaha Te Reo Māori – making the language stronger - will continue this year, picking up from where it left off in 2022. The campaign is an essential piece of the puzzle to achieving the goal of 1 million speakers of te reo Māori in 2040.
This week I have been attending the New Zealand Principals' Federation Conference. This was a fantastic opportunity to listen to and be inspired by some really great speakers including Patrick Camangian, Professor of Education at the University of San Francisco, Pasi Sahlberg, Finnish educator and author and Abbas Nazari, author of After the Tampa:From Afghanistan to New Zealand. I am very grateful to the team at St. Theresa's for keeping things ticking along so smoothly.
Next week is a huge one with our production; please don't forget to get your tickets for this highly anticipated show, from Gina in the office.
Wishing you all a happy and safe weekend.
Nga mihi

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 17th September, 2023
Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 18:21-35
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us that we must forgive one another as God forgives us. Jesus said we need to forgive each other 77 times but He clarifies His message in the story of the king who forgave his servant when he could not repay the money. The king had no terms or conditions attached to his forgiveness; it was whole and genuine. This is how God forgives us. We are challenged to always forgive others, a task which can be hard especially when we are called to fully forgive by letting go of hurt and resentment. We can always ask God to help us to be courageous and compassionate when we offer forgiveness.
In Room 2, we have been learning how to count in 5s up to 50. We know that 5 plus 5 is 10 and half of 10 is 5. We are superstar mathematicians.
This week, Emma Voigt joined the students in Room 2. She is the sister of Matthew in Room 7 and the daughter of Sean and Meghann. We know she's already well acquainted with our school community and knows the ropes! We wish her many happy and memorable years as a St. T's school girl.
A request from all our teachers - if your child has any of the gold tokens that are used as rewards for our PB4L programme, could they please bring them back to school as soon as possible? We currently only have about half of what we used to! Thanks in anticipation.
Message from The Attendance Dues Team
We are getting a new database which will be going live by the end of the year. This will include a Parent Portal at some stage, which will mean parents can log in and see their account balance and manage their account details. This secure self-service platform will also allow you to make payments. Watch this space!
All communications by us are now via email so please check that emails from dues@wn.catholic.org.nz do not go to your Spam/Junk Inbox so that you receive all communications from us.
If you are paying by regular instalments, your account should be paid by the end of November or by payment plan as agreed by us. It is preferable to have a regular instalment that keeps your account in hand.
Financial assistance is available to families experiencing financial hardship (loss of income/redundancy, family reasons, etc.). It is a condition of the assistance application that the family has an affordable regular payment in place. You apply for this assistance through the school.
If you have any questions, please so not hesitate to contact us:

“The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown
I think this book is amazing. In this book a robot named Roz goes on a big adventure around a deserted island that he was abandoned on while trying to be delivered on a cargo ship. On his big adventure he makes lots of new friends and he even adopts a goose named Brightbill after a terrible accident.
My favourite part of this book is when Roz finds Brightbill's egg and protects it with everything she has got. She does this until the egg finally hatches and Brightbill learns to swim, fly and talk.
My favourite character is Chitchat, Chitchat is Brightbills best friend. He likes to talk a lot and has lots of personality which is a fun part of the book.
I think this book is for anyone who likes lots of emotion and adventures.
