Tonga Language Week/Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga is being held from Sunday, 3rd September to Saturday, 9th September 2023.
This year’s theme for Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e lea faka-Tonga|Tonga Language Week is 'E tu'uloa 'a e Lea faka-Tongá 'o ka lea'aki 'i 'api, siasí (lotú), mo e nofo-'a-kāingá, which means the Tongan Language will be sustainable if used at home, Church and in the wider community.
This short video offers some common Tongan phrases that are simple to learn:

Our production is only 13 more sleeps away! The children and staff have been working really hard learning songs, dances and the script to bring you a truly memorable night. Thank you all for your support with costumes, etc. Don't forget to purchase your tickets from Gina in the office. This is a not to be missed event.
Just a few sneak shots of today's practice.
Congratulations to Mrs. Cole and her husband, Terry who celebrated their eldest son, Joseph's wedding at St. Theresa's on Saturday. Joseph is an old boy of St. Theresa's so it was a very special day.
This week we celebrate Social Justice Week.
Social Justice Week in 2023 is the beginning of something very special. For the next three years, the focus will be on peace and responding to conflict. The overarching tagline is:
‘Imagine Peace For All/Pohewatia te Rangimārie mō te Katoa’
Each year there will be a unique focus and for 2023 it is:
‘Peace begins with you!/Ka tīmata tonu te Rangimārie i roto i ā koe!’
Walking with Jesus/Te Hīkoi me Hēhu
As we go about our day, Lord,
As we strive to walk with Jesus in a world of peace,
Remind us that we are the minds, hearts and hands of Christ,
Who is with us always.
May your grace, mercy and peace,
Bless us, keep us and transform us.
This day, now and forever.
Āmene
Wishing you all a happy and safe weekend.
Nga mihi

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 10th September, 2023
Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 18:15-20
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus teaches His disciples how to settle arguments. He tells us to, in the first instance, talk directly with the person you have had a disagreement with and if that is unsuccessful then involve and seek mediation from others. Jesus also reminds us that prayer is an important part of conflict resolution and we can pray that God will help bring peace to any situation.
For the school production, Room 4 children are nurses and soldiers on the battlefield. Nurses care for the soldiers and sometimes they need to put on bandages for their injuries. Kate Nickson came to Room 4 and taught us how to put bandages on heads, arms and legs. We checked with our patient to see if the bandage felt good. It was so much fun learning to do bandaging.
Welcome to our newest student!
Luca Buchanan has joined the children in Room 2. We warmly welcome him and his parents, James and Abby and wish them many happy and memorable years as part of our wee community.
Scripture Reading Competition results and photos
Last week, St. Theresa's hosted the Kapiti-Mana Scripture Reading Competition. It was a great occasion to bring together all of the Catholic schools in our area - Otaki, Levin, Paraparaumu, Titahi Bay, Porirua and Tawa. All of the children proclaimed The Word beautifully. Huge congratulations to Brooke Barber who won the Year 5 Overall Competition cup.

Sports Results - Netball final and Futsal
NETBALL
St. Ts Angels vs SFX Score 15 – 33 to SFX. The final game for the season, playing for 1st and 2nd and we gave it our absolute best, completely thrilled to take out 2nd place!! It was another hard-fought game for the Angels; we held our own before a couple of turnovers saw SFX take the lead. We worked hard as a team with great passing, creation of space, some outstanding intercepts and fantastic driving of the ball down court to the shooters who scored some incredible goals! Massive congratulations to the whole team - such an awesome achievement!! A huge thank you to all our supporters who cheered the team on during the season.
Excellent work from everyone and lots of fun. Player of the Day was Michael Bastian in Room 6 and the other team's coach awarded Player of the Day to Lincoln Longworth as well.
Score: Mixed team 9, St. T's 2.

Featured Hub Leader Book reviews
“Echo” by Arlo Kelly - Reviewed by Nahla
My favourite part was when Eric snuck down to the beach to go and visit Echo. I also liked the special connection and bond that formed between Eric and the whale.
I loved the author's use of descriptive language in the story. I was able to use my imagination to make it feel like I was really there. The descriptive words in this book made it really easy to build up pictures in my head.
I would highly recommend this book for young readers! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Farewell Anahera” by Vanessa Hatley-Owen - Reviewed by Lashini
Farewell Anahera is a picture book by Vanessa Hatley-Owen. This book is about a girl called Anahera who had passed away and her whanau and friends had a special funeral for her. The book dives into Anahera’s afterlife aligned to Maori tradition and beliefs.
The book not only describes the immediate events afterlife by words but also some sensational illustrations. I enjoyed reading this book but it made me emotional and a little sad.
The storyline was confusing at the beginning but I enjoyed it as it progressed. My favourite character was Anahera because she was the main character and I think she looks pretty in her little cloak. The storyline and the illustrations were captivating.
I recommend this for 10-12 year olds because some of the content can be confronting for younger kids. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
