Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Today we proudly hosted the Kāpiti-Mana Scripture Reading Competition here at St Theresa's. It was so wonderful to have support from the Parish, ADW and Bishop Viard College. Our thanks go to Zita Smith and Carmel Keane for volunteering to be judges and also Peter Setefano and his students, Susan and Sophia from Bishop Viard College. We would also like to thank Olivia McKennie, our DRS, for preparing the readiings and co-ordinating the children. Congratulations again to our participants Ryker Sidoti and Brooke Barber who represented St Theresa's so well.
It is definitely full steam ahead with our production, 'Taonga, Our Treasure'. Tickets are on sale now from the office so grab yours quickly so you don't miss out. If you are planning to be away during the Production, please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible.
Our After School Care timetable will continue in Term 4; the finishing time of 5.30p.m. has worked well and we will continue with this. Please be on time to collect your children.
Wishing you all a happy and safe weekend.
Nga mihi

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 3rd September, 2023
Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 16: 21-27
In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus challenges Peter to think not as a human would but as God would. Peter thinks that Jesus should not go to Jerusalem and face the dangers that await Him however, God thinks that Jesus should go to give His life for others. Like Peter, we are also called to not think of our own selves as we are born to do but to instead think of others. This is a different and at times confronting way of thinking but through prayer and calling God to mind we are aided in this challenge.
In Room 7 we have been super busy. Here are a few things we have been doing in the last couple of weeks:
- We have been learning about The Fruits of the Holy Spirit. We wrote some poems about the nine different fruits. We published them on Chromebooks using GoogleDocs.
- We have finished our Calendar Art and feel especially great about our artwork. We chose to draw either our family or Awarua, the Taniwha of Porirua Harbour.
- We have also been working really hard learning our item for the School Production. We can’t wait to be on stage at the end of the term.
Production tickets and everything else you need to know......
Production tickets are now on sale! Please read the attached notice as it contains EVERYTHING you may want/need to know about the rehearsal day, the performance nights, ticket prices - everything!!!
A BIG thank you to all our pizza volunteers!
On behalf of our whole School community, we would like to thank all the parents who volunteer on a weekly basis to pick up and pack pizza orders for all the hungry children and to those who co-ordinate the orders, field the questions, reply to emails and ensure that everyone receives their order. We really appreciate your effort - none of this could happen without you.
NETBALL
St T’s Angels vs Tītahi Bay Kererus: Score 12 - 3 for the win! An outstanding game; the Angels dominated possession early to take the lead and held strong until the very end. PoD went to the whole team for amazing team work and we’re in the finals!! Playing off for 1st and 2nd this Saturday - come along and cheer the team on, 12.45p.m. on Court 2
The Ferns had their last game of the season and gave it their all. Our shooters, Emily and Scarlett, were on form and made incredible shots, even when faced with a higher hoop than usual. Our defenders, Jorja-Maree and Luna, got plenty of intercepts and rebounds, making it tough for the opposition to get goals. Iris, Alisa and Harper-Rose were on fire in the mid-court, finding space and challenging their partner throughout the game! Charlie supported us from her sick bed!
Everyone on the sideline was delighted at the effort and determination of the team.
A huge thanks to all our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends, etc., for coming and supporting us this season.
Player of the Day - Iris Gair who once again filled in for the Ferns and showed incredible enthusiasm, skill and sportsmanship.
Magic Moment - Luna Blank for an amazing game as GK and timing her intercepts perfectly AND Alisa Sinumon for finding space, driving on to the ball and picking up loose balls!
St. T’s Saints vs Papakowhai Dazzlers: 2 - 16
Parumoana Interschool Swimming Competition
Last Tuesday, 11 of our St. T's children participated in the Parumoana Interschool Swimming Competition. We were so impressed with the effort the children put into their events and how they all supported each other. Congratulations to following children who placed in the finals: Will Croasdale - 2nd Freestyle, 2nd Backstroke, 3rd Breaststroke; Harper-Rose Hodge - 5th Breastroke; Matthew Bleach - 3rd Butterfly; Izzy Cato - 3rd Freestyle, 4th Backstroke; Charlie Cheung - 3rd Backstroke. Thank you to the parents who transported and especially to Libby Baker and Maria Gair who put their hand up to marshall and manage the team. St Theresa's placed 6th overall.
