Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
A huge thank you to everyone who came to our parent presentation, "Our Kids Online" on Tuesday. It was a very confronting subject but such an important one to be sharing as a community. We were really pleased with the numbers which earned us the gold award for having over 50% of the community in attendance. As promised, Rob has sent through the follow up PDF. Click on this link: Cyber Safety Presentation Follow Up .
Here is a link to the website if you want to check out the resources, etc: Link
We will also be offering a follow up session with a recording of the presentation for anyone who was unable to make on Tuesday night and details will come out about that as soon as they are available. We have recieved the teaching resources and will be working through those with the children next term.
In school this week, we have Viv Aitken and Tim Taylor working with teachers and modelling the 'keys' of Dramatic Inquiry. We will also be hosting a workshop on Saturday at school, introducing the "Try This" resources and website.
Our Parent/Teacher interviews are being held on Tuesday, 1st August and Tuesday, 8th August. Please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz to book a time slot as this is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher. The event code is mhbgc.
Next Wednesday, 2nd August is our Term 3 powhiri and Mass of Welcome; everyone is invited to come along and support our new families.
Wishing you all happy and safe weekend.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 30th July, 2023
Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 13:44-52
In today's Gospel, Jesus tells us two parables; one of a man who gave up all his possessions so that he could have treasure and another who gave up all his possessions so he could have a pearl. These parables were told to teach us about what we value. Both of these men valued all that they had but found greater value in the treasure and pearl, so gave their possessions in exchange. God calls us to value the Kingdom of God most of all. We are invited to reflect on the things we value in our own lives and what we place the most importance on. Are these things that help us to be closer to God?
Rm 8 – Getting into Poetry!
We love writing and using our imaginations. Last week we wrote poems about simple objects like string, a ball and a stick. We wrote ‘It’s Not a … poem’. It was tricky trying to find rhyming words for some of our ideas. We’ve published our favourite poem and illustrated it. We’re excited to share some with you at our Assembly this week.
Welcome to our second new student for the term - Angelina Muollo
Angelina Muollo, sister of Emelia in Room 7 and daughter of Anthony and Alice, has joined the children in Room 2. We wish her many happy years as part of our wee St. T's community.
Confirmation - Sunday, 30th July, 2023

Important dates for Term 3, 2023
Final call for cookbook recipes!
The Parents & Friends Committee are currently working on creating St. Theresa’s first ever School Cookbook. This will be made up of family favourite recipes from our School and Parish community. As we have had an influx of families join our school community over the past year, we would like to give our new families a chance to submit a recipe too - whether it’s your child’s favourite chicken meal or a secret sauce that has been passed down generations.
You can enter your recipe details here or take a picture of the recipe and email it to: sttheresascookbook@gmail.com
It would be amazing to have a little blurb or story with your recipe but if words fail you, then just send the recipe through on its own.
We have received an abundance of brownie recipes already and our cookbook committee feels that we have reached our limit in that category. Therefore, we kindly ask you to refrain from submitting brownie recipes. We greatly appreciate your understanding in this matter and encourage you to explore other culinary delights that your family is known for.
The cut off for recipe submissions is Sunday, 6th August, 2023. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Bronagh Barber via email at bronagh.barber@gmail.com
