Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome back to Term 3. Hopefully the holiday break was relaxing and relatively free of winter bugs. It's great to see the children bouncing back in this week, full of excitement and ready for another busy term. We are hosting the annual Kapi Mana Scripture competition at St. Theresa's and we have our production in Week 10, so lots happening again this term.
A big thank you to the Parents & Friends team for their support with our Matariki celebrations. This was another lovely celebration and the sausage sizzle and hot chocolate sales raised close to $1000. Thanks to everyone for coming and sharing this time with us.
It's not to late to sign up for our cyber safety evening, Our Kids Online, with Rob Cope. This is being held at Aotea College on Tuesday, 25 July 6.30 - 8.30pm. We will have a list of names to sign in at the entrance to the auditorium, however if you want to bring friends, neighbours or other family members there is plenty of space. The more people in our community who hear this message, the safer your children will be online. This workshop is R18 so is not suitable for children. We are asking for $10 per person to help cover costs however, if cost is an issue please do not let this stop you from coming. Email the school office with your name so we can add you to the list.
On Sunday, the Parish are celebrating Grandparents' Day and we encourage the children to bring their Grandparents or significant elder/s to Mass and stay for a cup of tea afterwards.
Wishing you all happy and safe weekend.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 23rd July, 2023
Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 13:24-43
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus offers parables about the Kingdom of Heaven. He tells the parable of the farmer who chooses not to pull the weeds out of the field because it will harm the wheat but to instead wait until it is time to harvest.
Jesus reminds us in this parable that it is not our duty to be judging others and that first impressions can be incorrect.
When reflecting on this Gospel, we are reminded that the only one who has the authority to judge us and others is God. We are called to be compassionate in our view of others and to always come with the understanding that we don’t know what other people are going through or what they have experienced.
We all had fun in the holidays but are excited to be back at school. This week we have been learning about Aroha. We learnt that Jesus is our best example of how to show Aroha. Jesus used a story to teach us that God will always love us even when we make a mistake; God forgives us as quickly as the snap of a finger. We have been thinking about how we can show Aroha to others this term and one really good way is for us to forgive others when they apologise, just as quickly as God forgives us. This can be tricky sometimes but the more we practise the better we get!
This week, we welcome Grace Mischewski. She has joined the children in Room 6. Grace is the daughter of Brenden and Kerry and the sister of Flynn (Rm 4). We all wish you many happy years here at St. T's.
Parent/Teacher Interviews - Tuesday, 1st August and Tuesday, 8th August
To book your interview time, please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and use the event code mhbgc.
It is an expectation that all families meet with their child's classroom teacher.
Final call for cookbook recipes!
The Parents & Friends Committee are currently working on creating St. Theresa’s first ever School Cookbook. This will be made up of family favourite recipes from our School and Parish community. As we have had an influx of families join our school community over the past year, we would like to give our new families a chance to submit a recipe too - whether it’s your child’s favourite chicken meal or a secret sauce that has been passed down generations.
You can enter your recipe details here or take a picture of the recipe and email it to: sttheresascookbook@gmail.com
It would be amazing to have a little blurb or story with your recipe but if words fail you, then just send the recipe through on its own.
We have received an abundance of brownie recipes already and our cookbook committee feels that we have reached our limit in that category. Therefore, we kindly ask you to refrain from submitting brownie recipes. We greatly appreciate your understanding in this matter and encourage you to explore other culinary delights that your family is known for.
The cut off for recipe submissions is Sunday, 6th August, 2023. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Bronagh Barber via email at bronagh.barber@gmail.com
Netball Results - 1st July, 2023
St. T's Angels vs Adventure Steel: 15-5 to us!
2 Players of the Day - Lashini Jeyathas for great defence, getting lots of tips to the ball and intercepts AND
Bella Adams for great shooting and movement in the goal third.
Magic Moment - Mila Robinson for great all round defence.
Our Term 3 celebration takes place on Wednesday, 2nd August at 9a.m. Please come along and be part of welcoming our new families to St. T's!
Matthew Bleach and Will Croasdale represented our Parumoana Cluster at the Regional Cross Country at the end of last term. We were so proud to hear that the boys ran an amazing race. Matthew Bleach finished 2nd in the Year 5 Boys race and Will Croasdale finished 14th. The top ten go to the nationals so Matthew will be heading to Christchurch in September. Fantastic results, boys!
Grandparents' Day Mass - Sunday, 23rd July
On Sunday, 23rd July, the Church will celebrate the third World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Children are invited to come to Mass on Sunday with their grandparents. If your grandparents are far away or have died, bring in a picture of them to Mass. There will be a special blessing for them.
Pizza Fridays in Term 3 - Available for all 10 weeks!
The full procedure details for ordering are attached.
After School Care - Some changes have been implemented
These are the changes that have been implemented from the start of Term 3.
