Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
This week has certainly reminded us how damaging the weather can be and our thoughts and prayers go to those people who have been and are still battling the heavy rain and more recently the effects of cyclone Gabrielle.
During the past 2 weeks we have held an earthquake drill as well as a fire drill and the children responded quickly and sensibily to both. They understand the need to be prepared and ready to respond and that we have plans in place to keep them safe.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 19th February, 2023
Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Matthew 5:38-48
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells the crowds to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”. This message was not in keeping with the thinking or message of the time, so it was a hard teaching for His listeners to take on board. In this Gospel, Jesus challenges us to carefully assess the messages we receive from society and evaluate whether they are thoughts and actions that God would expect of us. It can be incredibly difficult to choose to go against the grain of society even if it is the right thing to do and so we ask the Holy Spirit to help us with this challenge.
This term we have been doing a class project on poetry. We have created poems about Porirua City. We had to write down five nouns and five verbs and then turn it into a poem and then we illustrated it. Come and hear some of our poems on Friday at Assembly.
We loved going to Plimmerton Beach last week with the whole school. It was such a lovely community day.

The event code is: fxg7c (case sensitive).
Thanks and please - we're nearly there!
We have had a couple of offers of help for Pizza Fridays and thank you so much for that! However, we still need a few more helpers. If you are available on a Friday (not every Friday!) for a couple of hours around lunchtime, please email Lucy Kerr or Yvette Tohill on pandf@stp.school.nz and they can answer any of your questions too. If we get enough offers, it might be that you would only be required to help once a term. Easy as!
Are you a sparky or do you have a relative or friend who is one?
Our March Madness Fair needs the services of a sparky. If you or someone you know would be prepared to help us or if you need more info about what would be required, please contact Shona Hockings on Mob 021-1451725 or shonahockings@gmail.com - thank you in anticipation!
We need you all so that our March Madness Fair is a success
MARCH MADNESS is only 5 weeks away! We REALLY need your help to make it a success! Thank you to those who have signed up to help in a role on the day and thanks to those who have donated items. We still need more of everything!
For CLOTHING, we need all styles and sizes that are in good, clean condition:
- Men’s, women’s, children’s
- Jackets and shoes
- Accessories – hats, handbags, belts, scarves, sunglasses, etc.
For TOYS, we need:
- Clean soft toys
- Puzzles and games
- Baby & Toddler
- Dolls – LOL, Barbie, Disney, etc.
- Transport – cars, trains, motorbikes
- Animals – Farm, Dinosaurs, etc.

All donations can be dropped off to the Green Room opposite Room 2 in the Junior Block.
If you have multiple parts to a toy or game, please put the parts together in a zip lock bag and label them as co-ordinators don't have enough time to clean and find/combine loose parts. Zip lock bags can be found in the Green Room opposite Room 2.
For HELPERS we really need support in the following areas:
- Food – you just need to come to cook and/or serve; everything is organised for you
- Games – everything will be ready for you; just have fun!
- Quick Fire – get the crowd excited and sell paddles for awesome prizes
- Colourful Creatures – apply tattoos, nail polish or coloured hair spray; this area is full of fun!
Haven’t signed up yet? It is not too late. Either email Shona Hockings at shonah@stp.school.nz or fill in this survey:

These are just a few queries that can be addressed with the many features of our school library WebApp.
