Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
It's hard to believe we are already halfway through the final term of 2022 and there are still so many fun and exciting things happening. We have our Family Christmas Fun Night on 1st December and more information about how you can support the Parents & Friends group with that, is in this newsletter. We also have our end of year celebrations that the children are preparing for. If you haven't already marked the dates in your calendar, they are:
- Friday, 9 December: Final Assembly and Whanau Day. More information will come out about this day and you are invited to attend any part of the day that suits.
- Tuesday, 13 December: Prizegiving and Christmas Play. Everyone is invited to stay afterwards for a cup of tea and some Christmas nibbles as our thank you to the community for your support this year.
- Friday, 16 December: Whole school Mass at 11am. School finishes at 12.30pm for the year.
The Board of Trustees is currently reveiwing the strategic plan and have a short survey they would like you to fill in to help guide changes and decisions made. Please respond via the Strategic Planning Survey Link here.
This week we have had Dr. Viv Aitken in school working with the teachers in the Dramatic Inquiry space. This is a pedagogy that we have been developing over several years across the school and we are very fortunate to have been granted professional development hours from the Ministry of Education to further develop this. Viv is also working with senior staff on our local curriculum and this work aligns well with the Board's strategic planning review.
On Tuesday, our Kapa Haka tutors made the most of the great weather and had the children outside learning the poi.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel for Sunday, 13th November, 2022
Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 21: 5-19
In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus reminds us that as His followers, we will face many difficulties. One of the challenges of being a disciple of Jesus is learning to trust His assurance that He will be with us, even in the most difficult of times. We are encouraged to look for the good in challenging situations, to find sparks of hope or happiness and opportunities for growth. We are reminded that God is always there with us on our journey.
Room 1 are having lots of fun being 'Shining Lights of Jesus.'
- We know what Respect looks and sounds like;
- We show Aroha to all our friends;
- We are Kind to the ocean and sea creatures by putting rubbish in the bin and by reusing plastics;
- We are Positive learners by saying, 'We can do it.'
- We show Self-control in the morning when our parents/whanau say goodbye.
We had our seventh Board of Trustees meeting last week and it was another very productive one. We talked about the strategic plan and the consultation process that is underway. You would have received a survey at the end of last week that will help inform us on what is important to yourselves and what your views are on our strategic plan for the next three years. I would encourage you to complete the survey so that we can have as much input and information to work with when putting the strategic plan together.
The meeting also covered other important aspects of the governance of the school, including the refresh of the Governance Framework and a discussion on finances and Health and Safety.
Christmas is coming up extremely quickly so not long before the holidays start. We have our Christmas Family Night coming up on 1st December. This will be a great night to get together as a community to celebrate Christmas. It’s an opportunity that we haven’t had for the last couple of years due to Covid. I’m really looking forward to this so make sure you come along and help make it a great night.
Nga mihi,
Mike Tohill – Presiding Member – St Theresa’s Board of Trustees
The St Theresa’s School Board of Trustees is currently developing its strategic plan for the next three years (2023-2025) and would like your input.
The current strategic plan is linked here for your reference.
Unfortunately, due to ongoing restrictions, we have been unable to host a community hui this year so we are asking our community to please fill out this very quick survey to gather your feedback and ideas for the future of our school.
Please respond via the Strategic Planning Survey Link here.
The survey closes on Monday, 14th November and takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
If you would like to provide a more detailed response, please contact Donna McDonald, Principal, at donna@stp.school.nz or Mike Tohill, Presiding Member at chairperson@stp.school.nz to arrange a suitable time to talk.
The Board of Trustees will analyse responses and work with a facilitator to complete a draft plan. This will be available on the website for consultation before being sent to the Ministry of Education in March 2023.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey. We are extremely grateful for your honest feedback, and thoughtful suggestions.
Ngā mihi ki a koe,
Donna
