Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
It was lovely to see so many of you at our final powhiri and Mass of Welcome yesterday. We were grateful for a fine day for such a big group, as the Hall is never our prefered option. The children sang and read beautifully and our new buddies performed their duties like professionals. Thank you to those families from Kakano Pod who provided morning tea and helped with set up, etc. Thank you also to Fr. Andrew for another lovely Mass and to Jocelyn and Sister Trish for providing and presenting the new children with a kete from the Parish.
Today we participated in the National Shake Out Day; this is a reminder to us all to be prepared in case there is a major earthquake. More information can be found via this link https://getready.govt.nz/en/involved/shakeout/share-the-shakeout/#e4264
The children stayed calm and focused and followed our procedures.
A reminder to keep Thursday, 1st December free for our Christmas Family evening from 5pm - 7.30pm. There is more information about what is happening and what we will be asking for in this newsletter.
On Thursday, 17th November the teachers will be attending a paid union meeting in Porirua, as this meeting starts at 1.30pm we ask that you pick your child/ren up at lunchtime, which is 12.40p.m. Those children who attend After School Care on that day will be supervised at school until they go over to ASC. If you will not be able to pick your child up, please let their teacher know so that we can arrange supervision. Thank you for your support with this.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel for Sunday, 30th October, 2022
Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 19:1-10
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus stays at the house of the tax collector, Zaccheaus. In doing this, Jesus offers another chance to someone who has done the wrong thing. Zaccheaus apologises for what he has done and promises to pay back all those he has wrongly taken money from.
We are reminded that when we repent, God forgives us and as Jude reminds the children at liturgy, God forgives us as quickly as the snap of a finger. In return, we also need to forgive others this quickly, even when it is hard.
This week, Sam Timperley joined the students in Room 1. We welcome him and his parents, Shane and Hannah and wish them all many happy years as part of our St. T's community.
In Room 6, we have been creating doodles which have been inspired by an artist named Mr. Doodle. His real name is Sam Cox and he lives in England. He is famous for creating artwork using lots of little doodles. To get people's attention, he doodled his entire mansion. It was really crazy. We have been making some art using Mr. Doodle's ideas to help us. It’s been really fun using lots of doodles in our artwork. We have been practising drawing robots, suns, dogs, cats and lots of other things, just like Mr. Doodle does.

Family Christmas Fun Night - Mark this date in your calendar!
The Parents & Friends Committee are planning the Family Christmas Fun Night. We want to celebrate the school year and get into the Christmas spirit, so please put the date in your diary: Thursday, 1st December 2022, from 5pm - 7.30pm.
There will be food, games, entertainment, mystery jars, face painting and much more!
We will need your support to make this a success, so please watch out in the coming weeks for ways in which you can help.
To kick start this, we would love for families to start making Mystery Jars. Get your kids involved in filling jars with goodies and wrapping them so that the contents remain a mystery. Items can be small toys, lollies, stickers, etc., so let the kids get creative! These are always a popular item and sell out fast - the more we can make, the better!! Mystery jars can be dropped off to the School Office.
Class, individual and family photographs will be taken on Friday, 28th October in the Parish Hall. If you want a sibling photograph taken, please make sure you have filled out the card that your child will have brought home this week. An individual photograph will be taken of every child however, there is no obligation to buy them.
