It was wonderful to end last week with a Disco for the children. The weather was stormy outside and the children were dancing up a storm inside. Thank you to Lucy Kerr for co-ordinating this and to the smiling helpers who made it such a fun night for everyone.
The camp fundraising group held a Quiz Night last Sunday which was very well attended. The teachers' team 'The Irish Rovers' were stunned to take out the top prize and win a raffle. Thank you to Chris and Sasha Robinson for running such a fun quiz and to the fundraising group for co-ordinating everything.
It has been so lovely getting to work with Rooms 9 and 10 as they prepared for the Scripture Reading Competition that is happening today at school. The level of preparation has been very high, so thank you for supporting the children with this. We are very proud of all of them and wish our finalists well. Thanks to Jocelyn Bryant and David Keane for taking on the judges' role - a very tricky one this year!
Our Room 9 and 10 DanceSplash item is coming along nicely. This has been another treat for me to be involved in and I have loved the way the children are supporting each other, coming up with awesome ideas and getting very involved in every aspect of the dance.
Due to illness and other unforeseen circumstances, we have decided to postpone our communty hui that was scheduled for 22nd September, until Term 4. We will give you details of a new date as soon as possible.
Have a great weekend.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel for Sunday, 28th August, 2022
Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 14:1,7-14
Jesus often used parables to teach about the Kingdom of God, inviting us to use our imaginations to see possibilities beyond the existing reality and to see people, life and the world, in new ways. In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus tells a parable to describe who is invited into Heaven. We are challenged in this Gospel to be humble; we are challenged to give without expecting a reward. In the Lord's Prayer, we pray “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.” Whenever we pray these words, we are asking God to help us to live according to His will - being humble and giving without expecting repayment.
These children received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Cardinal John Dew last Sunday. Please keep them and their families in your prayers as they continue along on their faith journey.
Bella Adams, Nicholas Aubrey, Brooke Barber, Will Croasdale, Bronagh Davidson, Esther Davies, Iris Gair, Colin Lang, Holly Reading, Juliana Ritter, Tom Rousell, Sam Rousell, Hugo Simmons and Bella Woodley.
All the children in Room 1 are really looking forward to spring next week. We love the flower paintings we created using water colours and dye. They are so bright. Our classroom is really going to look like spring when we display them.
We also love our wharenui that Mrs Beasley created with our Room 2 friends. We like to play in it and read to our toys in it.
It’s fair to say that the kids all had a great time at the Disco last Friday, as well as parents and helpers who made it onto the dancefloor too! Thanks to all the parents who assisted on the night - we couldn’t have pulled if off without your help!
A massive THANK YOU to Paul and Kate Deere from New World Silverstream, who generously donated the hotdogs and bottled water for our Disco. Your support is much appreciated!
