Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Welcome back everyone. It is so lovely to see all the children's happy, smiling faces this week. It is also wonderful to have almost zero absences due to illness - long may that last.
Thank you for supporting our Teacher Only Day on Monday. It was a hugely productive day and a great start to the professional development we are undertaking.
Next Tuesday is our first full powhiri and Mass of Welcome in 2 years and we are very excited to be able to fully welcome all our new children, staff and families again. Powhiri starts at 9a.m. We go straight to Mass after the powhiri and end with morning tea in the hall. You are all very welcome to attend and we are normally finished by about 10.30am.
Next week I will be off site supporting the Catholic Character Review of Sts. Peter and Paul School in Lower Hutt. This is a great opportunity for professional development and also the first time in quite a while that we have been able to conduct these types of reviews, face to face. We are scheduled to be reviewed at the end of May and look forward to welcoming the reviewers.
As we adjust to life in Orange Level, you are very welcome to come into school when dropping off or picking up your children. All lateness sign-ins will continue to be recorded in your child's class and if you are picking your child up early, please sign them in and out in their class. We also ask that you continue to wear a mask if you are inside any of the school buildings. We will be adjusting our protocols in line with MoH and MoE advice.
Work on the senior block toilets is well ahead of schedule. The builders are looking like being finished by the end of May and it will be lovely to have fresh new toilets to use. Room 9 have also received a brand new heat pump and we are grateful to the Archdiocese of Wellington for this property upgrade. This is another example of how your Attendance Dues are spent. Thanks also to Rooms 9 and 10 and their teachers, for coping so well with the extra noise and having to travel to the hall to use the toilet - it will all be worth it soon.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel for Sunday, 8th May, 2022
Fourth Sunday of Easter
John 10: 27-30
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus describes His relationship with both His followers and with the Father. Jesus describes His relationship with the Father by saying that they are one. This means that to know Jesus is to know the Father. Jesus doesn't just bring us closer to the Father, He puts us directly into contact with God the Father, removing all distance between us. Throughout our life, we hope and pray that we will grow ever closer to God as we learn to follow Jesus more fully.
Here is a prayer you might like that links with this Sunday’s Gospel.
Lord, let me know clearly
The work which You are calling me to do in life.
And grant me every grace I need to answer Your call
With courage and love and lasting dedication to Your will.
Amen.
Welcome to all the new students
This week, we have five new students to welcome to Room 2.
Zoey Jansen van Rensburg and her parents, Stephan and Kirsten
Zoey Giles (sister of Isla in Room 8) and her parents, Tony and Tania
Raymond Ball (brother of Brianna) and his parents, Michael and Emalinda
Abigail Vannathy and her parents, Douangdy and Adele
Penina Ah Kuoi (sister of Eseta) and her parents, Fred and Eirenei
Welcome to all of you! We hope that your time here at St. T's is filled with wonderful memories and happy times.
At the end of Term 1, Room 10 carried out some statistical investigations on different topics including school uniforms, the wearing of school hoodies, books for the library, screen time, amounts of pocket money each week and so on. The children presented their information using bar graphs, dot plots, tally charts, strip graphs and pie charts. They drew conclusions from the data. This week at Assembly, they will be sharing some of the information and their conclusions.
Pizza Fridays are continuing...........
This term, there are only 8 Fridays (including tomorrow) as we have a Teacher Only Day on Friday, 3rd June and a public holiday (Matariki) on Friday, 24th June.
You can prepay for the term if that suits you however, a pizza order form must still be handed in each week. Just put 'Prepaid' on the bottom.
Our school bank account details are 12 3254 0109325 00. Thank you for supporting this fundraising initiative and thanks to the P & F parents who organise this each week.
Thank you Olivia Wakefield Photography
Thank you, Olivia, for your wonderful fundraising initiative. We're sure that all the families who took up your very generous offer will be thrilled with the results - just as much as we are with what you've donated to us!
Powhiri and Mass of Welcome - 10th May, 2022
On Tuesday, 10th May at 9a.m. we will be welcoming our new students and their families. We will revert to the usual way we celebrate this occasion and will have Mass and morning tea, following the powhiri. Please join us in welcoming these families.
St. T's very own, first ever COOKBOOK!!
The Parents & Friends Committee are currently working on creating St. Theresa’s first ever School Cookbook. This will be made up of family favourite recipes from our School and Parish community. We would like every family to contribute a recipe that means something to them, whether it’s your child’s favourite chicken meal or a secret sauce that has been passed down generations.
You can enter your recipe details here or snap a picture of the recipe and email it to: sttheresascookbook@gmail.com
It would be amazing to have a little blurb with your recipe but if words fail you, then just send the recipe through on its own.
