Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Thank you all so much for your support this term. It's been a very challenging term and I think everyone is ready for a break. Have a wonderful, happy and safe Easter.
COVID -19 UPDATE
I'm sure you are all aware that the decision was made to move to the Orange setting as of 11.59p.m. Wednesday, 13th April. The decision to move to Orange has been made on public health advice and reflects that we are moving past the peak of cases and our health system is able to cope. We are seeing that cases are declining due to high levels of vaccination and natural immunity after infection.
I wanted to give you an update on what the move to Orange means for our school.
At Orange, face masks are no longer required at school. However, public health advice is that masks continue to be strongly encouraged when indoors. Wearing a mask is a key health measure that slows the spread of COVID-19 in indoor settings. For that reason, we ask that visitors to the school, including parents and whānau, wear a mask whenever they are indoors on school grounds.
There may also be times that we will ask our senior students to wear a mask – for example, when we are having an assembly in the Hall. If there are a high number of cases at school or in the community, we may ask that masks are worn in classrooms for a time. These will be provided as needed.
We will continue to keep all the other health measures in place at school that we know slow the spread of COVID-19. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, maintaining good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette, appropriate physical distancing whenever we can and most importantly, staying home if we are sick.
We are looking forward to Term 2 and a few less restrictions and school life that is a bit closer to normal.
Today we were able to celebrate our Easter Pageant in the Church. Thank you to Olivia McKennie, our DRS and the staff, for preparing the children so well. It was lovely to see so many of you there and great for the children to have an audience to share the Easter story with.
Have a wonderful long weekend, travel safely if you are going away and enjoy a restful break.

Easter Sunday
The Gospel for Easter Sunday tells us that Mary of Magdala thought that someone had taken Jesus' body. The disciples did not yet understand that Jesus had been raised from the dead.
During Lent, we prepared ourselves to remember and celebrate Jesus' death and Resurrection. During the season of Easter, the Church asks us to reflect on Jesus' Resurrection and what it means for us as His disciples today. We can spend time during the Easter season thinking about Jesus' Resurrection and the gift of eternal life that He gives to us.
Welcome to Nicole Zhao and her parents Ricky and Micky as well as Charlotte Bailey and her parents, Matthew and Nicole. These two new students have joined Mrs. Beasley in Room 2. We hope you enjoy your time here at St. Theresa's and wish you all many happy years as part of our School community.
This term we have been drawing pumpkins in the style of Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese artist. She is in her nineties and loves pumpkins because they remind her of the lovely things in the world. She uses lots of polka dots in her work. We have been working really hard on our pumpkin pictures.
We have also been working on a statistical investigation. First we had to choose an interesting topic, worthy of investigating. Then we had to collect the data and present it in different ways before drawing a conclusion. Come and visit Room 10 next term to find out more.
We are looking forward to the Easter holidays. Happy Easter everyone.

A huge thanks to Libby Baker for all the effort she put in to organising our Big and Mini Easter Raffles this term. We appreciate her enthusiasm and hard work which has resulted in a great outcome that benefits all the children of St. Theresa's.
After School Care programme on Teacher Only Day - 2nd May - It's happening!
We have been invited to attend the ANZAC Day service to held at the Peace Memorial at Te Rauparaha Park on Monday, 25th April, 2022 at 9a.m. If your child would like to be part of the parade, please meet Mrs. McDonald at 8.30a.m. outside the Porirua City Council admin buildings. Children need to be in school uniform and siblings or ex-students are more than welcome to join us.
Parking in James Street at drop off and pick up times
Out of respect for our neighbours and in the interest of following the road rules, please don't park over any driveways - even if you are just sitting in your vehicle. It is very frustrating for the residents in James Street when this happens. Thanks in anticipation!

Monday's Staff Only Day is for teachers to work with our advisor on Structured Literacy. This is a Ministry funded professional development day and we have to work within a limited timeframe.

St. Theresa's Secondhand School Uniform Shop - read all about it!
Our second-hand uniform has proved to be so popular, we are now turning it into a “shop”. This is a fundraiser whereby items will be individually priced with 100% of all proceeds going directly to our School. If you have old uniform in good condition that you are willing to donate to this fundraiser, please drop it to Gina (no white shirts or old-style boys’ shirts please). We currently have a lot of demand for new entrant items and girls’ uniform. For any further information, please contact Libby: Elizabeth.baker@tegrisk.co.nz
SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME for children, 2022 – First Reconciliation, First Confirmation, First Holy Communion (Eucharist)

If you wish your child to be part of the Sacramental programme, you must have them enrolled at the Parish office by the 1st May. Please email the office at st.theresas@xtra.co.nz
St. T's very own, first ever COOKBOOK!!
The Parents & Friends Committee are currently working on creating St. Theresa’s first ever School Cookbook. This will be made up of family favourite recipes from our School and Parish community. We would like every family to contribute a recipe that means something to them, whether it’s your child’s favourite chicken meal or a secret sauce that has been passed down generations.
You can enter your recipe details here or snap a picture of the recipe and email it to: sttheresascookbook@gmail.com
It would be amazing to have a little blurb with your recipe but if words fail you, then just send the recipe through on its own.
