Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Thank you all for another week of being flexible and continuing to support us at school to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Thank you also for being so vigilant with watching for symptoms and keeping children home when they are not well.
We currently have 24 children and 3 staff members across the school who are isolating due to COVID and of those, 6 children and 1 staff member have tested positive. We send them our very best wishes, a speedy recovery and hope to see things return to normal as soon as possible.
As you will be aware, the isolation period changes from 10 days to 7 days from 11.59pm tomorrow and this will be a relief for many who are isolating at the moment. However, please remember if your child is still showing symptoms after this period, continue to keep them at home.
The highlight of being at school for me, is always those opportunities when I get to spend some time teaching in one of our classrooms. Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with the children in Room 7. What an amazing group of learners they are. We were discussing the different weeks of Lent and this week they are focussing on 'sharing'. I was so impressed with their thoughful, honest and creative answers to the question 'How can I share at home?'. Some of their answers included sharing time, letting my sister share my friends and sharing my thoughts. Their illustrations were wonderful too. Thanks, Room 7.
There's always such a lot happening in the grounds at playtime and lunchtime. Today we had Fr Andrew pop in and join in the fun and games.
Have a great weekend, stay well.

Gospel for Sunday, 13th March, 2022
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus takes three of His disciples to the mountain to pray. Whilst there, Jesus' appearance changed. He was transfigured and Moses and Elijah appeared to him. Peter, James and John had fallen asleep and they awoke to see Jesus in all His glory. This Gospel reading reminds us that during Lent, we are called to slow down and seek out time for quiet prayer. In silence, we can be more attentive to Jesus who wants us to follow His word and example. Our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving help us to listen and follow Jesus more faithfully.
Room 2 are having lots of fun planning and designing our scene and actions for retelling our part in the story, "Awarua, the Taniwha of Porirua." We practised stacking cups to work out a plan to make our large hills surrounding the Porirua Harbour. What great thinking, Room 2!
Tuesday, 15th March at 9a.m. in the school grounds
We have had to adapt our usual welcoming format due to Red Level restrictions so this term, our powhiri will be held outside. If the weather is wet, we will postpone it until Term 2, 2022. We are also unable to celebrate Mass together or provide morning tea.
Please join us in welcoming our new families for this term.
Is there anyone interested in doing a couple of hours per week of gardening and general tidying up here at school? If you're interested, please contact Gina or Donna and we can let you know more, as well as the hourly rate.
We're also looking for someone who could come and do the occasional maintenance jobs that we have from time to time e.g. putting up a shelf, changing lightbulbs, fixing wobbly steps, putting up new pickets - random stuff like that! This would just be when the need arises as opposed to having to come in every week. If more info is required, please talk to Donna or Gina.
