Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
It's hard to comprehend there are only 2 more newsletters to go and that is it for 2021. What a crazy old time it has been. This year I have been so proud of the way we, as a community, have managed to keep things as normal as possible for our children and support one another through all the changes, restrictions and new protocols we are constantly dealing with. We would normally invite everyone in for a huge thank you morning tea on our Whanau Day however, this isn't possible this year, so please accept our heartfelt 'thank you' for everything you have done to support us in our daily work with your children. It is a real privilege to support your children in these fundamental years and we are aware of what a taonga they are to us all.
We are very pleased to announce that Olivia McKennie has won the role of Director of Religious Studies and will be taking up the position in 2022. This also means Olivia will become a permanent member of the teaching staff in 2022 so we are all very excited that she will be continuing her teaching journey here with us.
Also, our congratulations go to Pauline MacLean on winning the role of Across School Teacher for our Northern Kahui Ako. This is an amazing opportunity for Pauline and will require her to be out of school 2 days per week. We are fortunate to have Shona Hockings to cover those two days, which will ensure a seamless transition for the children.
Next year our Pod structure will look slightly different, as we will bring our Year 2 children into the Pihinga Pod. The structure for 2022 will be:
Pohutakawha Pod:
Room 10 - Pauline MacLean and Shona Hockings Year 5/6
Room 9 - Trish Fitzsimons Year 5/6
Pihinga Pod:
Room 7 - Liz Meyer Year 3/4
Room 6 - Arnie Pham Year 3/4
Room 8 - Deb Neave Year 2/3
Room 4 - Deborah Norris and Emma Harris Year 2
Kakano Pod:
Room 3 - Olivia McKennie Year 1
Room 2 - Jo Beasley New Entrants
In term 2 we will open Room 1 again for role growth
Our After School Care team have let us know they are keen to offer care for children on the following days:
Wednesday, 15 December - 12.30pm - 6pm (final day of school)
Thursday, 16 December - 8.30am - 4.30pm
Friday, 17 December - 8.30am - 4.30pm
These days will be dependent on numbers.
The cost is $60 per child for the day and children will need to bring their own lunch. If you are interested, please complete this survey. https://forms.gle/
Our end of year celebrations are unfortunately a bit different this year however, we are very grateful that we are able to have our Prizegiving and Christmas Story filmed, to share with you all. Thanks again to Louis and Breigh Sutherland for arranging this.
The times and dates are:
End of Year Prizegiving (filmed) - Tuesday, 14 December at 11am.
End of Year Mass - Wednesday, 15 December at 11am (School finishes at 12.30pm)

Gospel reading for Sunday, 28th November, 2021
In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus talks to His disciples about times and circumstances that many people will find troubling but He tells them that they are not to be frightened by these things. Let's listen carefully to this Gospel.
A belated welcome to Ada Millington!
A belated but no less warm welcome to Ada Millington who started school in Week 4. She has joined the Room1 whanau. We wish her and her parents, Karl and Lauren, many happy years as part of the St. T's community.

When you come to school, regardless of how long you stay on site, you MUST scan in.

St. T's After School Care is up and running - come check it out!
You will be aware that the St Theresa's After School Care programme is now under the management of the Board of Trustees. There are very few noticeable changes and we would like to reassure you that the programme is continuing to be run to the very high standards we have become used to and without any staff changes, this provides continuity and stability.
We have kept the fee structure the same as before, $20.00 per day with a 10% discount for siblings. However, there will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Keller in the hall.
The booking facility is on our website.
