Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Thank you for supporting our Accord Teachers Only Day on Tuesday. This was a great opportunity for the teaching staff to complete a full day on our Theology paper. We have 3 more sessions to complete the paper and these are scheduled for evenings and during the summer break.
Today the whole school participated in the National Shakeout at 9.30a.m. The children were wonderful and quickly practised their 'drop, cover and hold' routine before moving outside to meet on the field. Next year we will practise moving to higher ground as we are on the tsunami line and will also need to run a reunification drill next term.
There has been a great deal of discussion and reporting through various media outlets around the COVID-19 vaccination. As you will be aware, this has been mandated for the Health and Education sectors and all people working and/or volunteering in schools from the 15th November will need to have had 1 dose of the vaccine and be able to present evidence of this. We are currently working on a register to record all staff and will then require all volunteers, etc. to be included on a register. From the 15th November, teachers will be required to request your evidence of vaccination if you wish to accompany the school on any trips or activities, etc. We will also require evidence of vaccination for anyone coming onto the school grounds except for drop off and pick up. As you can imagine, the details of how this will work are developing at a rapid pace and we are waiting for clear instructions from the Ministry of Education before we send any more information out.
We will also be led by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health regarding decisions around vaccine requirements for 5 - 11 year olds and will keep you informed of any updates to this.
We are currently working through the logistics of holding our end of year activities which include Prizegiving, our Year 6 Leavers Dinner and our final Mass. As always, the children will be at the heart of all of our decisions and we will endeavour to keep things as normal and settled as possible. However, we are currently still in L2 which means we cannot have parents and whanau on site indoors so it will be highly likely that our end of year celebrations will be students only. With the news of Christchurch reporting 2 new cases of COVID-19 today, we are aware that things could change rapidly for us all and need to be planning for this. Detailed plans will come out soon.
While we are in Level 2, please remember to wear a mask into school if you need to be on site and signing children in and out happens in your childs' classroom. All classrooms have QR codes and a paper recording option. Also, please consider using internet banking or emailing any requests where possible, so as to minimise the need to be in the building.
We are currently working on classes for 2022 so if you know you are leaving Wellington or won't be returning next year, please let us know as soon as you can as this information helps with decision making. Also, if you have a pre-schooler who hasn't yet been enrolled, please contact Gina as we are nearly full for 2022. If you know of other parents who are interested in enrolling their child at St. Theresa's for next year, please encourage them to contact us as well.
Have an awesome weekend.

You will be aware that the St Theresa's After School Care programme is now under the management of the Board of Trustees. There are very few noticeable changes and we would like to reassure you that the programme is continuing to be run to the very high standards we have become used to and without any staff changes, this provides continuity and stability.
We have kept the fee structure the same as before, $20.00 per day with a 10% discount for siblings. However, there will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Natalie in the hall.
