Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
It's hard to believe we are nearly at the end of Term 3 and we have only been back from lockdown for 2 weeks. The children are all back into the swing of their learning and it's so lovely to see how happy they are to be back.
At St. Theresa's we have been very mindful of the toll the constant changes can have on our children's hauora - health and wellbeing and we have endeavoured to keep school as normal as possible. We are very grateful for the constant support we receive from our community.
Production has been a huge focus for us, both before and after the lockdown and a wondeful opportunity for the children to work together to create something amazing. Today we had our first full run through and we were so impressed with the children and how they had learned lines, dance steps and songs.
Tomorrow we will send out an updated and detailed letter regarding, 'all things Production'. Please look out for this, as it will detail our Level 2 plan.
Don't forget to put those clocks forward for the start of daylight saving and the start of those long summer nights.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā!

Board Talk - Mike Tohill - Chairperson, Board of Trustees
We had our latest Board meeting last Wednesday evening. Due to the Covid outbreak, we decided to do this via a Zoom meeting. It was, as usual, an interesting meeting. We discussed the recent allocation by the Government of money for state-integrated schools called the Essential Property Maintenance Programme. This is similar to what was given to non state-integrated schools last year for maintenance. Our process is slightly different as we have to consult with and get approval from the Archdiocese of Wellington for work we want to spend the money on. This process is underway and once approved, any work will be project managed by the ADW. It is exciting to know that there is an allocation of funds for us to be able to spend on our school above our normal budget however, the process may take some time to work through.
Donna gave us a summary of how the last Covid lockdown went from the school's perspective. As with last time, we were all impressed with the resilience shown by our kids to just get on with it. We were also appreciative of how difficult it is for parents during this time, as we all faced the same issues ourselves. A huge thank you has to go to Donna and her team who did a remarkable job kicking straight into home learning and keeping this going. It is a huge amount of work for the teachers and support staff to do this and they just got on with it. So thank you for your resilience and thank you to the whole St. Theresa’s team for all they did.
As we approach the end of the year, we need to start considering our Strategic Plan. Next year is the last year of our current Strategic Plan. Throughout next year we will be considering and preparing our next 3 year plan. This will involve community consultation sessions as we did last year. I look forward to the discussions and the formulation of the plan and working with you all to get your voice and your thoughts so we can include that, as we did last time, in the strategic aims and goals for the three years after that.
Please stay safe in these times and look after yourselves and your families.
Nga mihi

This week, Myla Grimwood joined our St. T's school community. She is the daughter of Andrew and Camille and the sister of Max in Room 7. We wish you a very happy school life, Myla!
In Room 3, we have been super busy. Lots of us have lost teeth recently which is very exciting. Last week for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori we learnt the colours, made koru pattern bookmarks and we made taniwha with the help of the Cultural Leaders.
St. T's Angels had an awesome win against Discovery Defenders 12-9. There were two Players of the Day: Kate Vincent and Emily Aubrey
St. T's Saints won 9 - 8. Player of the Day: Ava Woodley
St. T's Stars won 11 - 5. Player of the Day: Sophia Davis
Sadly due to Covid restrictions, teams had a disjointed season. However, we still must thank our amazing team managers: Hone Kingi, Paul and Kate Deere and Kim Rousell for coping with the continual changes, organising their teams and managing each session. We really appreciate your help and support.

You will be aware that the St Theresa's After School Care programme is now under the management of the Board of Trustees. There are very few noticeable changes and we would like to reassure you that the programme is continuing to be run to the very high standards we have become used to and without any staff changes, this provides continuity and stability.
We have kept the fee structure the same as before, $20.00 per day with a 10% discount for siblings. However, there will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Natalie in the hall.
The booking facility is on our website.
