Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Welcome back everyone! It's Term 3 already and it's hard to believe we are over halfway through the year.
This term we have another action-packed and busy calendar. We are aware that Term 3 is often when we suffer the most from common illnesses such as chickenpox, coughs and colds. We are very grateful for the vigilance shown in keeping children home when they are displaying symptoms and keeping us informed.
This term the staff will also be busy completing a Theology paper through The Catholic Institute of Aotearoa. This ongoing professional development is essential for teachers and leaders in Catholic schools and we are very fortunate to be able to complete this paper together as a staff.
As you will be aware, we will be having 2 Teacher Only Days on Friday, 20 August and Monday, 23 August. These days are to allow our teachers to attend the Theology 502 course. We have arranged for the After School Care programme to be open from 8.30am - 5.30pm on both of those days at a cost of $60 per day and is dependent on enrolments. More details are in this newsletter.
Parent interviews are on tonight and next week, so if you haven't already booked a time, please do so as this is an opportunity to connect with your child's teacher to discuss progress and goals for the second half of the year.
kia pai tō rā whakatā!

Gospel reading for Sunday, 1st August, 2021
The following students have joined Mrs. Beasley and the rest of the Room 2 children: Miesha Cronauer is the daughter of Dagmar Cronauer and Shane Whitehead;
Aurora Smith is the daughter of Stephanie Thwaite (one of our past pupils!) and Joshua Smith.
Tom Wakefield is the son of Hamish and Olivia and has joined Ms. McKennie and the children in Room 3.
We wish all of you many happy years at St. T's.
St. T's After School Care is up and running - come check it out!
Many of you will be aware that the St Theresa's After School Care programme is now under the management of the Board of Trustees. There are very few noticeable changes and we would like to reassure you that the programme is continuing to be run to the very high standards we have become used to and without any staff changes, this provides continuity and stability.
We have kept the fee structure the same as before, $20.00 per day with a 10% discount for siblings. However, there will be no fee for sickness. Children can be booked in full time, on selected days or on a casual basis as well.
Enrolment forms are available from both the School Office or Natalie in the hall.
The booking facility is on our website.

Teacher only days coming up next month
Friday, 20th August and Monday, 23rd August are teacher only days - staff will be having Religious Education PD so there will be no school on both days.
Possible child care option for our Teacher Only Days!
Depending on the number of children who require care on one or both of these days, there is a possibility that our After School Care programme will operate on both the Teacher Only Days (Friday, 20th August and Monday, 23rd August).
The programme will be open from 8.30a.m. - 5.30p.m. Children will need to bring their own morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. The cost will be $60 per day, for the whole day.
We need registrations of interest by no later than Friday, 6th August to establish viability. If the programme does go ahead, parents can still enrol their children after this date. We will let you know on Monday, 9th August if this isn't going ahead.
Please email the School Office if you think you may make use of the programme. office@stp.school.nz
This term we have been working on the 2021 Production and Room 9 and 10 have been doing a dance about a bad environment (the one hint we’re giving you about the production!). There are seven main parts and Patrick got one of them. He was overjoyed that he got it because he put his heart into it and tried his hardest.
In a couple of weeks, we will be participating in a Scripture Reading Competition. We have an option of doing it in English, Teo Maori or Samoan. If you are competitive, you will get told to do one of the readings you have been practising and after that you will get given an unseen text then you have to read that in front of the class. If you get into the top three, you will go to the next stage. If you are non-competitive, you will pick one of the scriptures to practise then read it in front of the class. Reporters: Jakson Croasdale and Patrick Reiher
The first of our 3 dates for this term is tomorrow. Please call Gina at the Office to book an appointment. The next opportunity for on site fittings:
Friday, 27th August
Friday, 17th September
Pizza for Term 3 - 9 weeks only
Once again, we're making your Fridays so much easier! Only 9 weeks for this term as school is closed on Friday, 20th August and Monday, 23rd August as these are Teacher Only days.
As always, you can pay for the whole term but children still need to bring their form to the office each week.
Reminder: Please make sure that payment has been made for individual orders as it's time consuming to follow up if parents have indicated that payment has been made online and it doesn't show up in our records. Thank you to all those who already do this.
Dr. Rod Lane - our new Board member
We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Rod Lane (father of Eve in Room 2) to the Board of Trustees as a selected member. We're looking forward to him sharing his expertise and to his contribution to the Board.
What a fantastic effort! We are very grateful to our whole School community for their support of this fundraiser. The Colour Run made in excess of $5K and was enjoyed by everyone. The final total will be published in our next newsletter.
