Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
As you will all know by now, Wellington has gone into Level 2 until midnight on Sunday, 27th June. This is a shame for the range of Wellington events that have now been cancelled however, at school we are able to operate 'business as usual' with just some minor tweaks. Please keep your children home if they are displaying any symptoms and we ask that you scan in if you are coming into the school grounds.
Our Book Fair is on in the Learning Hub this week. The children will still have their Book Character Parade tomorrow however, we will not be able to have parents, family/whanau attend. We are thinking positively about the last two weeks of term and hope to be back in Level 1 for our Colour Run and Matariki celebrations and we will keep in touch about those. Thank you for your ongoing support.
This is what happens when you lose the 'Pencil Challenge'. Room 6 enjoyed watching Mr Pham run 3 laps of the school as their prize for keeping their classroom squeaky clean!
Don't forget our first ever Colour Run is being held on Friday, 2nd July from 1p.m. This will be fun for the children and is a great finish for our Cross Country training this term. The sponsorship forms have gone out to all children and should be returned to school before Friday, 2 July, so that teachers can sign them off and return them to the children for collection - please check your child's name is on the top. We also need lots of helpers on the day, so please let us know if you are able to support this fun event.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, maybe a little quieter than expected. Stay warm and well.
kia pai tō rā whakatā!

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
St. Theresa's School Board of Trustees - Casual vacancy for a parent representative
A casual vacancy has occurred on the School Board for an elected parent representative. The Board has decided to fill the vacancy by selection. If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the Board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.
Request for a by-election should be sent to:
Mike Tohill, Chairperson St. Theresa's School Board of Trustees chairperson@stp.school.nz by Thursday, 22nd July, 2021.

Matariki celebration update #2
It is now only 2 weeks until we celebrate Matariki together as a school community! A huge thank you to the 9 families who have offered donations of food or money toward the hangi. There are still a number of items that we require to feed so many hungry mouths! We are making a special request for meat to go in our hangi. We really need a supply of chickens and other meat such as mutton, lamb and pork! Please check out the list of items below and if you are willing to contribute something, please send an email to mariabgair@gmail.com or text 021390041 to register your donation. Thank you in advance for your support of this special celebration!
The Parents & Friends committee is a voluntary-run group, set up to help raise funds to support the School’s current needs. It is also a great opportunity to get involved and meet other people in our School community. The purpose for fundraising this year is to help upgrade our play areas and fund resources for our School. We have an annual target of $30,000.
As a result of Covid-19, we are unable to do our main annual fundraiser (St T’s Carnival in previous years) and so have planned a number of smaller fundraising opportunities for the coming months. We really need your support in helping us reach our target and appreciate all your support so far this year. At this point in time, we have managed to raise $8,000!
Our current focus this term is the Matariki celebration and hangi which takes place on Thursday, 8th July and we need your help to make this happen.
If you would like to find out more about getting involved in the Parents & Friends committee, please contact Lucy Kerr and Yvette Tohill on pandf@stp.school.nz
REMINDER - Advance absences or appointments
Please add in the office email address (office@stp.school.nz) to any communications to teachers about known absences or appointments. Occassionally, a teacher may be away which means that information about an absence may not have been shared.
St. Theresa's was represented by 30 runners at the Parumoana Interschool race last Tuesday. We were very proud of their effort. Special mention must go to Georgia Carter 7th, Tommy Carter 8th and Joshua Kerr 10th who placed in the top ten in their respective races and have therefore qualified for the upcoming regional race. Congratulations and good luck!
How's this for something exciting?! On Friday, 2nd July from 1 - 2.45p.m. we're having our very own Colour Run. Sponsorship forms will be sent home today and closer to the time, more details will be given to everyone.
Mark this in your calendar so you can come along and support your child/ren - it's going to be heaps of fun.
