Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau,
On Monday, Trish Fitzsimons and I were very fortunate to attend the opening of NZSL Week at Parliament. This year NZSL Week is being celebrated from 10 - 16 May. This is an opportunity for the Sign Language Community in New Zealand to showcase their language and provide opportunities for people to learn New Zealand Sign Language. At St. Theresa's, we strive to incorporate NZSL into our daily lives as much as possible however this week is a great reminder to add something new. The children will be sharing some of their new learning with each other throughout the week. Here is a link to the official website were you can learn more https://nzslweek.org.nz/
Thank you to our school community for supporting the Mothers' Day raffle, from donating prizes to selling and buying tickets. It was a huge success. Congratulations to the main winners and our spot prize winners too.
We will be holding another parent information evening on Dramatic Inquiry on Wednesday, 2nd June from 5.30 - 7pm. For those who attended last year, this was really informative and well received and we are keen to demonstrate the progress we have made in understanding this pedagogy and using it with the children. Keep this date free.
Pihinga Pod are off to the Zoo today and we are blessed with a beautiful day. We are looking forward to becoming experts in zookeeping.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Many thanks to Laurie Smith (Kannika's Grandad) for re-gluing the vinyl in Room 8. It's like new once again!
Thanks to Mike Montgomery (Hannah Greenham's Grandad) for doing all our maintenance bits and pieces.
Samoan Language Week 31st May - 4th June WE NEED YOU!
If there is anyone in our community who celebrates Samoan culture, please contact Pauline or Jo about coming in and sharing the culture with us here at school.
Sports Notice - Futsal and Floorball
In Room, 3 we have been super busy. We have been practising our sign language, learning numbers to 10 and practising the sign language for different songs. We have been loving cosying up in our new reading corner, reading and listening to stories. We have also started cross country training - we are fantastic runners.
As part of our Matariki celebration this year, we are very fortunate to be able to have a hangi. However, we are in need of equipment e.g. baskets, muslin, river stones and railway sleepers, kindling, etc. If you have any of these items that you are able to loan to us, please let us know.
Our celebration is on Thursday, 8th July.
