Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau,
Welcome back to Term 2 everyone. What an exciting week this has been. We have been blessed with amazing weather to settle the children back into the Kakano pod and we are all loving our new learning spaces.
Today, our newly refurbished classrooms were officially blessed and reopened. We were grateful to have had Archbishop Paul Martin to open and bless the classrooms and learning spaces for us. Thank you to everyone who was able to come along and join us for this occasion. Special thanks to the staff and students for their part in what was a seamless and lovely celebration. This project was funded through the Archdiocese of Wellington and is a direct use of your attendance dues.
Rooms 9 and 10 have also had a refresh over the holiday break, with new carpets and furniture. It looks wonderful and I know the staff and students are all loving their new look. Thanks to our Board of Trustees and Parents & Friend group for resourcing this work.
We are looking forward to our first ever Mothers' Day High Tea on Saturday and a huge thanks goes to Libby Baker and Bronagh Barber for the work they have put into this wonderful idea.
I would like to wish all the mums, nanas, aunties and significant mother figures in our lives a wonderful day on Sunday.

During the month of May, let us lift our eyes toward the Mother of God, our consolation and sure hope, and #LetUsPrayTogether the Rosary to face the trials of this moment together and to be ever more united as a spiritual family. Pope Francis
A very warm welcome to Fran Giacosa and his parents, Carlo and Gisela. Fran has joined Mrs. Beasley and the Room 2 students in their brand new classroom. We wish you all many happy years as part of this special community.
Gospel reading for Sunday, 9th May, 2021
We wish all Mums, as well as those who take on that role, a very happy Mothers' Day on Sunday. We hope it's everything you want it to be and more!
We came back from the holidays and walked into Room 9 and saw all of the new furniture and carpet. We like how the desks can be pulled apart easily and how one of the desks is like one out of a pub because of how high it is - it's really cool and everyone wants to sit on that one! Today, Archbishop Paul came and cut the ribbon for the opening of the Junior Block. The kids got to see it at the beginning of the week and it looks amazing. We have been practising our songs and haka for this. In class, we are all working on the Lexia programme and this will help us with our reading, writing and spelling. Cross Country training started and we are all working towards improving our fitness and some kids will be trying to make the cross country team. On Saturday, Libby Baker and Bronagh Barber have organised a Mother's Day High Tea to raise funds for the school - it's sold out and it's going to be fantastic! Happy Mother's Day to all our lovely Mums.
