Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau,
Thank you to everyone that came in for our first parent interviews of the year. These are a good opportunity to share information at the start of the year, which supports our children's ongoing learning. It was great to be able to continue these through the L2 alert and we thank you for your support with social distancing and signing in.
Next week we are hoping to be back in Alert Level 1 and this means we can hold our Kakano swimming presentation on Tuesday and our Pihinga and Pohutakawha swimming sports on Friday with spectators.
Unfortunately due to Level 2, we had to postpone our School/Parish Mass and this will now be held on Sunday, 14 March at 9.30a.m. This is our first Mass for the year and is also very special as it is the installation Mass for Fr. Andrew. We look forward to seeing you all at mass on the 14th.
The junior building project is on track for completion and we are expecting to be back in the classrooms for the start of Term 2. There has been much excitment in the playground with diggers and big trucks on site. These are all great conversation starters and learning opportunities for our children. We are really looking forward to being in our fresh new block.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Room 3 has another new student! Welcome to Willow Cooling and her parents Andy and Shona. The St. T's community is very happy to have you as members of this lovely wee school community of ours.
Board Talk Feb 2021 - Mike Tohill - Chairperson, Board of Trustees
We had our first Board meeting of the year last week. We discussed the Covid situation. At that time it was more of a review of how we responded to the earlier level changes and we were more than happy that the school as a whole have really stepped up when needed. It turns out to have been really relevant as we were put back into Level 2 a few days later. Our thoughts are that as a school community, we are really resilient and ready to take whatever steps necessary regardless of the Covid level we go into. The procedures set up by Donna and the school staff are really robust and agile and can be put into place at short notice which is what we want.
We discussed our strategic plan. We are into the second year of our 3 year plan. We reviewed our goals from last year to see that we achieved them and looked at what the plan was for this year. The strategic plan is based on the consultation we did with the school community in 2019 and fall directly out of what was discussed in those consultations. We are happy with how we are progressing and developing in our faith and learning journey and how we have been implementing and connecting with the Digital Technology Curriculum. We are also really happy with our connection with the many cultures we have at school and want to keep building on that.
There were the usual discussions about the budget and we approved this year's budget. As with all schools, our budget is extremely tight. This conversation led to discussing the Parents & Friends committee. A lot of great work was done last year to get this running really efficiently. We are looking for parents to take over co-ordinating this for this year and for parents to join and take part in the fundraising efforts. This is a vital part in the financial survival of any school so encourage you all to join up and help out in some way. None of the fundraising ideas is difficult to do and many hands make light work. The benefits are massive for the school and it is a great way to be more a part of the school community.
Welcome back to 2021 at St. Theresa’s and hopefully we won’t have as disrupted a year as 2020 was, although I know we’ve got it covered if we do.
Nga mihi

Chairperson – St Theresa’s School Plimmerton Board of Trustees.
Room 3 had lots of fun sketching and painting our self-portraits. We are all unique and beautiful.
We also love our swimming sessions. We loved putting on the life jackets and learning some life saving skills.

We're taking the stress out of making lunches on a Friday!

- We can't hold paid orders over if your child is absent on the day as we will already have placed our pizza order the previous evening.
- If possible, please try and have the correct amount of money attached to the order and not to expect change.
- One order per child please.
- All orders for the week need to be in by 9a.m. each Thursday morning.
At St Theresa’s we have a Joey’s group. Every Year 5 student will have the chance to be a Joey. We follow the way of Mary MacKillop by never seeing a need without doing something about it. We do this by helping at the Parish Food Bank. We sort out tea bags into groups of twenty to put into food parcels.
We also learn more about Mary MacKillop. She started a school for the poor children in Penola, Australia. We like helping others and being a Joey.
