Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau,
Wow, what a crazy week this has been. Who would have thought we would be in and then out of a lockdown in 1 week? We are getting very good at bouncing in and out of alert levels with very minimal impact on our students and their daily lives at school.
The staff started the week on Monday, working with Dr. Viv Aitken. We spent the day looking at our Dramatic Inquiry pedagogy, planning for the year and looking at fun and practical ways we can integrate this pedgogy into our teaching and learning. Thank you all for supporting us to have this very valuable time together. Later this term we will be holding an information evening to share some of what we are doing with the children so keep an eye out for the date.
On Wednesday, amid the Level 2 restrictions, we were fortunate to still be able to hold a Liturgy for Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent on the Catholic calendar and is an important time for reflection and action. Fr. Andrew was able to be part of our bubble and share this time with the children. He talked to the children about the importance of being kind, praying and fasting from things that are negative. Pope Francis also talks about different types of fasting, so that we don't just focus on food but look at how we can make a difference in many other ways.
Tomorrow we have the annual Beach Picnic and we are looking forward to a bright, sunny day. Now that we are back in Level 1, we would love to see you at some stage either walking to the beach, helping in the water or just dropping by to say hello. Please remember to send hats, suncreen, lunch and drink bottles, plus all the other beach stuff children need.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā
Donna

This week, two new students have officially joined our St. T's community. Eve Lane, daughter of Rebecca and Rod and Braeden Jeyathas, son of Ranjan and Lakshini and brother of Tristan and Lashini. Have fun in Room 3!
In Room 2, we have been doing lots of swimming in the pool. It is so much fun! We have also been writing about our holidays and all of the amazing things we have done. We love being back at school.
