Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and managed to celebrate Waitangi Day somewhere nice. The children and staff are all settling back into their routines and enjoying being back at school. We have been able to make good use of the swimming pool this week with EasySwim instructors on site and the Junior playground has been cleaned and repaired and is back in use. All of the children in Rms 1,2 and 3 are practising their self-management skills. They know where to go in the morning, where to line up after break times and are very flexible with sharing spaces - we are very proud of them.
Yesterday I met with the builders and architect and everything is on track to be finished at the end of April. This is good news and we are excited to be seeing real progress when we peek through the windows. The whiteware, etc. for the cooking space and wet area has been ordered and is with the joiner. Thank you once again to the Parents & Friends group for the fundraising efforts that made purchasing these possible.
On Tuesday night the staff attended the Archdiocese of Wellington Catholic
Schools Commissioning Mass for 2021, to celebrate the Eucharist and
whanaungatanga, with Cardinal John Dew presiding at St. Mary's of the Angels. This is a lovely way for us to start the year and an opportunity to meet with many of our collegues from the 42 schools within our diosese. We were also very proud of 3 of our teachers who received certification in Religious Education: Olivia McKennie (Foundation Level), Angela Cole (Leadership Level, Endorsed) and Pauline MacLean (Leadership Level, Endorsed).
Have a lovely weekend, and just a reminder we have our teacher only day on Monday, so will see you all back on Tuesday.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā
Donna
