Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau
It's been another really busy week for our children right across the school. Room 1 have been fortunate with the weather and attended Bush Sprouts.
The Kapa Haka performance group has been working hard on their bracket for their performance at the opening of Wellington Glass and the whole Junior block have been busy packing and clearing out junk, ready for the start of our new refurbishment on 23 November.
Just a reminder, we are having a Working Bee on Sunday from 9am at school to help dismantle and move some of the shelving, etc. that needs to be stored in the container. If you have a couple of hours to spare, that would be much appreciated.
We are currently working on classes for 2021 and looking forward to a much more settled year. The Board have approved the following class structure:
New Entrants - Joanna Beasley
Yr 1 - Olivia McKennie
Yr 2 - Angela Cole
Yr 3/4 - Arnie Pham
Yr 3/4 - Liz Meyer
Yr 3/4 - Deb Neave
Yr 5/6 - Trish Fitzsimons
Yr 5/6 - Pauline MacLean
In light of the events of 2020, we are very fortunate to have such a stable and high quality staff again in 2021. Deborah Norris will continue undertaking a variety of roles outside of the classroom and we are delighted to be able to offer Olivia McKennie a further year fixed term with us. Olivia came to us this year as a 1st year beginning teacher and like us all, found herself teaching from her home after only a few weeks in a classroom. We have been so proud of the way she has worked with our team, supporting our whanau and keeping a bright, positive attitude throughout.
Have a great weekend, and hope to see some of you on Sunday.

Board Talk - Mike Tohill - Chairperson, Board of Trustees
We had another productive Board of Trustees meeting last week. We started with a really useful presentation from Deborah Norris in relation to her SENCO role and the various areas where she is working with our children. It was really informative and I got a real appreciation for the great work Deborah and the other teachers and teacher aides do for our kids. We discussed the upcoming Year 5 & 6 camp and went over the risk assessment that Pauline had put together. The camp is going to be a great experience for our senior children and a chance for them to grow in confidence and independence.
We discussed the make up of our staffing for next year. We have a really talented group of teachers and next year is looking like another busy year for them. This led into a discussion about the upcoming redevelopment of the Junior Block. This has been planned and funded by the Archdiocese of Wellington and comes directly from the attendance dues you all pay. We are extremely fortunate to be getting this done and we will have a new and current Junior Block at the end of this process. There will be some disruption at the end of this year and through Term 1 however, we have been well supported by St Theresa’s Parish to re-house our junior classes through this process. It will be challenging but the end result will be worth it. Resilience and flexibility from all of us will be the key to success through this period.
We are fast approaching the end of the year but there are still plenty of activities planned as we head into Christmas so it is an exciting time.
Ngä mihi

Gospel reading for Sunday, 8th November, 2020
Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus often refers to the Kingdom of Heaven as a banquet or wedding feast. The parable we hear in the Gospel has Jesus represented as the bridegroom. It’s one thing to miss a wedding reception but it’s an entirely different issue to miss the second coming of Jesus at the end of time. We all want to be included in the heavenly banquet. We have to be prepared always - there’s no putting off readiness.
We wish God's richest blessings on all the children who made their First Eucharist last Sunday.
May you always know the peace of Jesus, the light of His love and the joy of His life within you.
Room 3 children have a new classmate! Welcome to Lincoln Longworth, son of Hayden Longworth and Katie Churchhill. Enjoy your years here at St. Theresa's!
Please email Deborah on deborah@stp.school.nz or let your child's teacher know if you can help.
PARISH & SCHOOL MASS - Sunday, 15th November at 9.30a.m.
On Sunday, 15th November, at 9:30am we will be celebrating Mass with the Parish and the school community.
In 2020 we have seen throughout the COVID experience, families and the communities in which they live coming together in a national show of kindness and support. Strangers have wished each other goodday as they have passed on walks, streets came together to support each other (observing social distance, of course), families were forced to slow down, spend time with each other and enjoy the simple things in life. Grandparents and grandchildren told each other stories. Let us not lose that sense of community and kindness and continue to get to know each other by coming together on this special day to support each other. There will be a sausage sizzle after Mass which the school and Parish will provide and a shared morning tea.
Scholastic Book Fair has arrived!
Miniball results - Managers'/Coaches' reports
St T's Titanics got their first win 10-9 vs East Porirua School. Great team effort. POD: Ella Fordham
St T's Tigers met a very strong Papakowhai team yesterday and unfortunately lost but it was great to see the team never gave up and were still eager to play. PoD goes to Kobe for a beautiful goal, great defense and being all over the court.

Fundraising Activities
The Parents and Friends Committee has a number of activities underway to raise funds for a kids kitchen in the new junior block.
Thank you! Nga mihi!
A huge thank you to those families who purchased their child's art products. We ended up raising a whopping $1000 from this activity which really helps fill our fundraising bucket. We will let you know once the products arrive and are ready for collection.

Wine fundraiser
Thank you also to those who have already put their wine orders in. There's a really great selection of wines on offer, at highly competitive prices (most are 30% cheaper than in the shops, some more!).
You can view the wine list and learn how to order and pay here [insert link to merged wine order form - attached
There are also copies of these forms at the school office.
If you can, it would be great if you could share the wine info and order forms amongst friends and whanau or even around your office. It's an easy sell, as (most) people like wine!
All orders must be in by Friday 20 November 5pm.
