Kia ora St. Theresa's Whanau
I hope all our wonderful Dads and Grandads had a lovely Fathers' Day on Sunday and were able to spend time with their whanau. I always love seeing the children sneaking their Fathers' Day treasures out on the Friday before.
The children are excited to be involved in our joint clean up of the local community with the Parish. We need parent helpers to make this really successful so if you are able to be at school a bit earlier on Friday we would be very grateful for your support.
Details below:
- Friday 11 Sept at 1.30pm Clean-up around the neighbourhood of our Parish church, school and the James St. block. Previously advertised as Sat., Sept. 19 at 2pm this has been moved to a weekday and will involve the children and parents at St Theresa’s school.
Recently, we have been alerted to some upsetting content that has been shared on social media sites such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. Whilst the children at St. Theresa's are below the legal age to have these types of accounts, we are aware that they often have access to them. Advice received from Netsafe is not to draw children's attention to this type of content, however, it is important to be aware of what they are looking at, as unsettling images are often hidden behind seemingly innocent images. Below is a link to an article from Netsafe to support adults to talk with their children.

Please be assured that children are not able to access any of these platforms through school devices or through the school internet.
Today we hear the voice of creation admonishing us to return to our rightful place in the natural created order – to remember that we are part of this interconnected web of life, not its masters. #SeasonOfCreation - Pope Francis
Have a great weekend.

My Giant
My giant’s name is Grace.
My giant’s hair colour is brown like chocolate.
Blue eyes as beautiful as the sea.
Purple glasses.
Freckles on her nose.
Diamond earrings on her ears.
Small, soft pink lips.
Wearing a dress with multi-colour flowers.
Her shoes are brown boots.
Her hands are behind her dress.

Many, many good wishes to the Barber family on the birth of their baby girl, Chiara. Congratulations to Luke and Bronagh, Brooke, Lucy and Ted.
We can't wait to meet her.
Scripture Reading Competition - Interschool
What a fantastic achievement! Congratulations to Hannah Tohill (Overall Year 6 - 1st place) and Ava Duncan (Overall Year 5 - 2nd place) who competed in this competition last week at Our Lady of Kapiti in Paraparaumu. We also congratulate Andre Hesp on presenting his speech in New Zealand Sign Language. He received a special award as well. Some of our Room 8 students performed in the Drama section and were amazing, to say the least! Thanks to Aaron de Rose for rehearsing with them and accompanying them on his guitar.
Our teams played last weekend and here are the results:
Stars lost 12 - 7 PoD: Lilyana Wrenn
Angels lost 0 - 7 PoD: Kate Vincent
Saints won 4 - 1 PoD: Emily Aubrey

Prayer to bless our togetherness in a pandemic that holds us apart - Prayer 2
This is the second in a series of prayers by Fr James Lyons during a time when many people are unable to meet with those they love.
Far Away
You are far away, my friend, for the good of your health
and mine and everyone else’s.
It hurts, of course, for there is a longing to be together, even while this pandemic hovers and threatens lives, and keeps you far away.
How wonderful, though, we can hold one another in prayer where isolation dissolves
and faith unites and nothing is very far away.
Caring for Creation - St. T's children doing a neighbourhood clean up!
Our children will be participating in this and you are invited to help and support us on the day.
Friday, 11th September from 1.30p.m. onwards.
Gloves and rubbish bags will be provided.
St. T's Season of Creation initiative update 4 newsletter is attached. Well worth a read.
Weet-Bix Kids' TRYathlon - Sunday,21st March, 2021
We have been sent information regarding setting up a St. Theresa's group for this event. If there is/are any parent/s who would like to co-ordinate this, please contact Gina and she will forward the info to you.
Looking for a personalised Christmas gift?
Look no further - we have a couple of ideas to make your Christmas buying super easy!
All proceeds raised from these sales will go towards a kitchen in the new junior block. This will be a fantastic space for our tamariki to explore their culinary skills.
Bubble Art Prints
We are now selling limited edition prints of the amazing "bubble art" created by our St. Theresa's children, following lockdown. This is an amazing keepsake to mark a very important time in our history.
We are only doing a small print run and have a limited number of frames, so get in quickly!
You can view the print and download an order form from the school website. Samples are also on display outside the school office (please use the QR code to sign in).
Orders need to be in by Friday, 25 September.
Kids Art Products
Our children are also working on some amazing pieces of art that will be turned into a range of products to purchase. These uniquely personal keepsakes including calendars, diaries, sketch pads, mouse mats and gift cards.
More information about prices and how to purchase the products will be sent out in the first week of Term 4. At that time, you will also be able to view your child's art online (and can even upload a different piece of art or photo, if you'd prefer).
