Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Welcome back to Term 4 everyone. I hope you all managed to get a break and are feeling rested and restored for the term ahead. The sun is beginning to shine, the pool is being cleaned and we are looking forward to a busy, fun term. We are also starting planning for our end of the year celebrations so please keep an eye on the calendar for event dates.
Although we are hoping that going into the summer season we will see less bugs around, we are mindful that COVID is still in the community, so testing, etc. is still appropriate if you have any symptoms. We have a good supply of tests and masks so please let us know if you require any.
We were very excited to have our most recent renovations finished ahead of schedule. Our thanks go to the Archdiocese of Wellington, Peryer Construction, Silverwood Architects, Lee Ashby and our Board of Trustees for the very professional manner in which this project was completed. We also thank the community, staff and children for supporting us while we had no staffroom and admin area. I'm sure when you pop in over these next weeks, you will agree that it has made a huge difference to the whole astetic.
With Monday being Labour Day, I wish you all a relaxing long weekend.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel for Sunday, 23rd October, 2022
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 19: 9-14
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the proud Pharisee who prayed from his self-importance and the tax collector who prayed humbly. In this Gospel, the Pharisee is a bit full of himself and is not humble like the tax collector. Jesus is reminding us through the parable to be humble. Mary, the mother of Jesus, is a great example to us of showing humility. When Mary found out that she was going to become the mother of Jesus, she did not react with pride. Instead, she humbly surrendered to God's will and praised God for blessing her with this gift. We are called to reflect on this Gospel and remember that humility is the act of seeing ourselves as we are, accepting faults and limitations and not thinking that we are better than others.
Fraction Fun in Room 8
This week we have been learning about fractions and having fun playing fraction games. We are learning that fractions can be represented in different ways. We found out that the bigger the denominator, the smaller the fraction piece is. We love Maths!
