Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a lovely break and spent time resting and catching up with friends and whanau.
It is so lovely to have the children back. The last couple of weeks of the summer break always seem a bit empty as we prepare for the return of our tamariki. We have been busy this week with swimming, welcoming our New Entrants and Room 8 having their furniture delivered on the first day back! We also welcome Sammi Dyke onto our staff. Miss Dyke will be working in the Kakano Pod, releasing Deborah Norris, our DP and some of the other teachers on their release days.
Our senior students and teachers have been amazing with their mask wearing. It's been so hot but they have quickly adapted, with no complaints. Thank you all so much for helping to prepare them for this significant shift in the way we operate.
After School Care: This year we have a new team running our ASC facility. Hone Kingi who is known to the children and has worked with us here at St Theresa's for the past 2 years, will be managing the programme. Alongside Hone is his very capable team of Karen Stewart who also works as a teacher aide and Kate Durkin who is new to our school. The programme will be run along similar lines to previous programmes, with the team adding their own creativity and flair to activities. If you would like to book your child in to ASC on a regular or casual basis, all the details are on our website.
COVID -19 Red Level:
Thank you all for your co-operation in ensuring we had a smooth start to the term under the Red Level and adhering to the changes we have had to put in place. As always, we are mindful of keeping everyone safe and well, following MoE and MoH directives and also ensuring that our environment continues to be one of low anxiety and high creativity. The staff, along with the Board of Trustees, are developing plans that are flexible and responsive to the many, many possible scenarios we may face this year with the Omicron virus. We understand this can be an unsettling time for many so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Gospel reading for Sunday, 13th February, 2022
Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Luke 6:17,20-26
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus teaches His disciples about the Beatitudes. He speaks of the way to true and lasting happiness. Jesus is telling us that true happiness will not be found in possessions, money or reputation. When reflecting on this, we can ask God to help us to be people who define success and happiness, not by superficial things but by the values of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.
Over the Christmas and New Year break, two of our school families welcomed a new baby and in turn, we welcome them into our School community.
Lee and Natasha Malauau have a new wee girl, Maia; John and Vineetha Bastian have another son, Nathaniel.
We congratulate them on behalf of all of us and wish them many blessings for the years ahead.
Thanks to all those who have already sent in their updated details or merely signed so we know they have seen the form. Much appreciated! This is just a reminder to everyone else to please get these forms in by Monday, 14th February at the latest.
We need to have up to date info for all of you so our contact lists can be printed and distributed to teachers in case of an emergency.
