Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou katoa St Theresa's whanau,
What a fantastic week we have had here at school. We ended last week with our annual Beach Picnic and what a wonderful day we had. It was so good to see so many whanau able to join us for some of the day. The Easy Swim teachers were awesome teaching the Yr 3 - 6 children water safety and skills and the junior children enjoyed their chance to swim. Thank you so much to those of you who stood in the water to help keep the children safe - I heard from more than one source that the water was 'freezing'!!
This week we celebrated our first powhiri and Mass of Welcome for 2021. Again this was a lovely day, with many comments on how welcome people felt. I was very proud of the children and extend a huge thank you to our wonderful staff for preparing them so well.
Tonight is the first of our 2 parent interview evenings. These are a great opportunity to come along and talk to your child's teacher at the beginning of the year. Please try to book a time for tonight or next Tuesday if you haven't already, as these are very valuable conversations. If you need help with the link, etc, please call Gina in the Office.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and a chance to enjoy this lovely warm weather.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā
Donna
This week we have been working with our buddy class to create self portraits. The focus was listening closely, following instructions and colour mixing. Our enduring understanding this term is 'We are all beautifully made in the image and likeness of God'. How amazing God’s creation is! Come and see our portraits at Assembly tomorrow.

We are delighted to announce our school will be able to benefit from a ‘school community vehicle’ which has been donated by local heating, air conditioning and electrical specialists Fantail Services Ltd for schools in the North Porirua and Porirua East Kāhui Ako Communities of Learning to access.
The van, generously donated by founders Chris Spayes and Trent Watson, will enable our students to be transported around the north Porirua area to inter school events such as chess tournaments, sporting events and technology challenges.
The ‘School Community Van’ seats 1 driver and up to 8 students and has been configured so students can face each other in the vehicle if desired. Fantail Services Limited invested approximately $45,000 in the vehicle and will pay for the cost of annual servicing as well as a $2,000 per annum GPS system for added health and safety.
What a stunning day it was! Thanks to Plimmerton resident, Mike Gits, for keeping an eye out for us!
