Last week the whole country celebrated Teachers Appreciation Week. Although I like to think our teachers feel appreciated every day at St Theresa's, our support staff made them feel extra special. They were treated to a lovely morning tea and the support staff arranged for some of the children to write notes to them that were displayed in the staffroom. They even made a very cute little video message for them. Some of the things that your children are grateful to their teachers for are heartwarming and you should be very proud of them.
Tomorrow is Your Choice Clothing Day. This is an opportunity for the children to wear their own clothes to school. We are asking for a donation to our Christmas Raffle which is being co-ordinated again this year, by Libby Baker. Any Christmas type treats, etc., can be dropped off to Gina in the office. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
The Board of Trustees is currently reviewing our strategic plan and writing the plan for the next 3 years. In this newsletter there is more information and a link to a quick survey which will help guide the development of strategic goals and priorities. Please take a few minutes to give us your ideas.

All Saints Day and All Souls Day reflection
All Saints and All Souls Day
We have come to the last month of the Church’s Liturgical Year and this week we celebrated two very important days.
The first is All Saints Day. On this day we celebrate the lives of the saints; those men and women whose goodness and love of God have inspired the world. Saints have allowed God’s love to shine out through them. We reflect on their lives and allow this to inspire us to show this love and goodness to all.
After All Saints Day, we have All Souls Day. This marks the beginning of a month where we remember all of the people we have loved who have died. We give thanks for the special place they have in our hearts. We also pray that they are with God and at peace. We keep these people in our hearts and prayers this month.
Haere mai to our new students!
A very warm welcome to the following students in Room 1:
Flynn Mischewski and his parents, Brenden and Kerry;
Eva Harper and her parents, Kelvin and Adrienne;
Brodie Gamboni and his parents, Ben and Carrie.
This term we have been part of the EPro8, a technology challenge.
First we had to get into groups of four. We got big black boxes and watched a tutorial about how to learn the basics of Epro8. The man on the TV showed us how to use the red block or you can call it a joiner. The red joiner had two gaps going across the middle on opposite sides and the metal poles would slide in. He showed us how to use the blue shapes and bracing and moving mechanics.
Then for a practice challenge we had to build a crane taller than me! Although we didn't finish it, it was fun.
Then it was the challenge day. My team decided to go with the scarecrow challenge. We built a base and worked our way up the legs, the torso and the arms then the triangle head with a curly red wig and Noah's school sunhat.
I learnt what Epro8 was and how to do it. I knew nothing about it before and never heard about it so I had learnt almost everything we did.
In Week 6 we are off to Camp and we can't wait!

The St Theresa’s School Board of Trustees is currently developing its strategic plan for the next three years (2023-2025) and would like your input.
The current strategic plan is linked here for your reference.
Unfortunately, due to ongoing restrictions, we have been unable to host a community hui this year so we are asking our community to please fill out this very quick survey to gather your feedback and ideas for the future of our school.
Please respond via the Strategic Planning Survey Link here.
The survey closes on Monday, 14th November and takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
If you would like to provide a more detailed response, please contact Donna McDonald, Principal, at donna@stp.school.nz or Mike Tohill, Presiding Member at chairperson@stp.school.nz to arrange a suitable time to talk.
The Board of Trustees will analyse responses and work with a facilitator to complete a draft plan. This will be available on the website for consultation before being sent to the Ministry of Education in March 2023.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey. We are extremely grateful for your honest feedback, and thoughtful suggestions.
Ngā mihi ki a koe,
Donna
Sale of Kids Art Products extended to 9a.m. Wednesday, 9th November
- Some artwork has not been scanned properly by the art company this year but is now resolved.
- If you want, you can also upload an alternative image of your choice.
Family Christmas Fun Night - Mark this date in your calendar!
The Parents & Friends Committee are planning the Family Christmas Fun Night. We want to celebrate the school year and get into the Christmas spirit, so please put the date in your diary: Thursday, 1st December 2022, from 5pm - 7.30pm.
There will be food, games, entertainment, mystery jars, face painting and much more!
We will need your support to make this a success, so please watch out in the coming weeks for ways in which you can help.
To kick start this, we would love for families to start making Mystery Jars. Get your kids involved in filling jars with goodies and wrapping them so that the contents remain a mystery. Items can be small toys, lollies, stickers, etc., so let the kids get creative! These are always a popular item and sell out fast - the more we can make, the better!! Mystery jars can be dropped off to the School Office.

The Year 5/6 St T’s Saints played on Tuesday and had a very impressive win of 13-1. The boys all played amazing and showed great sportsmanship throughout the game . Kobe Algar was our PoD. He had an awesome game with some great goals and amazing defense. He showed great leadership at half time, supporting his team mates. Well done, Kobe!
The Year 3/4 St T’s Lakers did not play due to a flood at the arena.
A group of Yr 4 & 5 girls were able to attend a Girls Cricket Festival last Friday. They had a fantastic day. Thanks to Shona Hockings, Ranjan Jeyathas and Toni Wilson for coaching, supervising and transporting the team. We couldn't have participated without you!
