Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Today the children were all involved in our Term 3 immersion morning. Our value for this term is Aroha and we are learning about showing love to ourselves so we can be better placed to show love to others. We have used the dimensions of te whare tapa whā to help the children understand how we need to have all the sides of our whare and a strong foundation to have a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
The children worked in buddy groups and participated in activities from the five dimensions:
Taha tinana (physical health) Maori games and Jump Jam
Taha wairua (spiritual health) yoga and meditation
Taha whānau (family health) coming together to share the kai we have prepared
Taha hinengaro (mental health) singing songs and making butterfly art
Whenua (land, roots) gardening and working with the soil from our land
Our learning conversation interviews are scheduled for next Tuesday and Thursday and bookings are currently open. Please take time to schedule an appointment to talk with your child's class teacher. These are valuable opportunities to discuss progress and next steps in learning.
At the end of Term 2, our mid-year statements were avaliable on Seesaw. As we use Seesaw to report in real time, these statements connect with the posts that have come during Term 1 and 2. Please look at the posts that have come out and add a comment, ask a question or give a like. It would be great if you have read them ahead of your interview to prompt any questions you might have.
The children in Rooms 6, 9 and 10 have been busily working with their teachers creating videos that explain different aspects of how we do things here at St. Theresa's, including Seesaw and the four aims in our strategic plan. We are currently looking at the best way to share these with you via the school website and newsletter. Look out for them coming out over the next couple of weeks - they are very informative.
Nga mihi,
Donna McDonald - Principal

Gospel for Saturday, 5th August, 2022
The Transfiguration of the Lord
Luke 9: 28-36
This Saturday, we are invited to celebrate the feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus. In this Gospel, Jesus is transfigured on the mountain in the presence of Peter, James and John. In this event, a voice from Heaven revealed that Jesus is God's Son. For one moment, everything that the disciples were learning about Jesus seemed clear.
We might also have moments like this in our lives; moments when we feel like we are certain about what we believe. Like Peter, we might not know what to do with moments of encounter or revelation. We may not understand what we have experienced until later. The disciples reflected on the Transfiguration and came to understand even more clearly what had been revealed to them about Jesus - that He was the Son of God who died and rose for our salvation.
We reflect on this Gospel, remembering that questioning and doubt about faith are a normal part of our journey of faith and we ask God to help us have great faith in Him in all the moments of our lives.
We warmly welcome River Jestin, brother of Max in Room 4 and son of Pierre and Aimie. River has started his school life in Room 1 and we wish him many happy and memorable years at St. T's.
Room 4's Liturgy with Jude McKee
As part of their classroom liturgy on Tuesday, the Room 4 children prayed together with Jude McKee and now we know that when we ask, He cares, when we seek, He’s there and when we knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, God opens up the door!
School/Parish Mass - Sunday, 14th August
Parent/Teacher Interviews - Tuesday, 9th August & Thursday, 11th August

What an amazing act of service from Nahla Taylor-Mallon in Room 9. She had her gorgeous, very long hair cut off and it will be used to make wigs for children with alopecia or who have had treatment for cancer. We all think you're a star, Nahla!
Colour Run - What an amazing outcome!
We're so grateful for your generosity in supporting this fundraising effort once again this year. The spectacular amount of $6200 was raised, thanks to all of you and your families who gave so generously.
