Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
What an extremely full term this has been. We have had so many fun and exciting activities happening from celebrating Matariki, holding Cross Country, the Colour Run and being reviewed by the Archdiocese of Wellington, to name a few. We have had to dig deep at times with the added stresses of illness and many people still having to isolate with Covid. Thank you all for your support over the last 10 weeks in helping us to keep things as normal as possible for the children.
As you will be aware, today we are holding a Lockdown Drill at 2.40pm. The bell will ring and the children will go into a lockdown scenario; the bell to release them will then ring at 2.47pm. This lockdown has been designed to allow us to practise what would happen if we were asked to lockdown at the end of the school day. Please assist us in keeping things as calm as possible by not entering the school grounds until after the lockdown is completed. These drills are designed with the whole school community's safety in mind. Research shows that if you have practised a scenario, it is less frightening and your brain's muscle memory helps you to take action. We continue to have regular earthquake, tsunami and fire drills throughout the year.
Next term we will be opening Room 1 as a fulltime roll growth classroom. Jo Beasley will be working in Room 1 with the New Entrant children and Shona Croasdale will work in Room 2 with the slightly older children. Shona and Jo have been working collaboratively this year so as to minimise any disruption for the children.
Our roll is looking very full again next year, so if you know of any Catholic children turning 5 next year who may be interested in coming to St Theresa's, please have them contact Gina to make a time to visit. This is very helpful for our class planning for next year.
Have a wonderful holiday break, enjoy time relaxing with family and friends and travel safely if you are going away. We all look forward to seeing you back in Term 3.

Gospel for Sunday, 10th July, 2022
Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Luke 10: 25-37
In this Sunday’s Gospel, we hear the well-known parable of the good Samaritan. Jesus challenges us to think about how we categorize people, considering some as worthy of our time and attention and others as unworthy. Of the people who passed by the injured man, one would have thought that the Priest and the Levite would have stopped to help but they just kept on going. Yet the Samaritan, the one who in those times you would not think would stop to help a Jew, did. Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan to challenge us to think about how we label people. He wants us to know that we are called to think of all people as our neighbours whom we are called to love.
In Room 3, we have been learning how the Holy Spirit works in us. We have been working really hard to be positive and are filling up our kindness jar. We have learnt about praying in colour and had lots of fun at the Colour Run on Friday. We have built a wharenui in our classroom for Inquiry; we love sitting in it.
Congratulations to Bella Adams who was baptised last weekend. Please keep her in your prayers as she continues on her faith journey.
These children celebrated their First Reconciliation and we ask that you keep all of them and their families, in your prayers.
Jessie's Roti & Butter Chicken Sauce!
St. T's Hawks won 18-0 Player of the Day: Mathew Bastian
Player of the Day: Bella Woodley
St T's Saints vs Papakowhai Stars 1-7
Player of the Day - Hannah Murphy
Magic Moment – Mila Robinson
St T's Ferns vs Titahi Bay Titans 6-8
Player of the Day - Nahla Taylor-Mallon
Magic Moment – Lashini Jeyathas
St. T’s Angels’ amazing journey as undefeated came to an end last Saturday, where we have to admit we came up against a very strong team from Hampton Hill School, Tawa, who has been cleaning out every team this season. Despite our loss, none of the girls ever gave up and we learn so much more from a loss than continuously victories.
Player of the Day – Siena Brennan for never stopped moving for the entire game.
Magic Moments – Willow Dunne for her awesome intercept, which was an exact replica of a drill we do at practice and to Poppy-Lou Dennison for her amazing work in defence, keeping their goal scoring to a minimum.
Our Colour Run was so much fun!
A massive thanks to everyone for their support of this fun event - the weather played its part too! We don't have a total yet but as soon as we do, we will let you all know. In the meanwhile, enjoy some of the photos.
