Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
This week was officially Support Staff Week, an opportunity to recognise the behind the scenes work that our wonderful support staff do. Yesterday we celebrated with morning tea and flowers for our treasured support staff. Thank you all for sending in flowers so that we could make up bouquets to give out at morning tea time.
I want to give a big shout out to our teachers for the work they do to keep everything ticking along. Last week we had our Catholic Character Review, our senior cross country, our first ever Kahui Ako conference (that several of our teachers presented at), ongoing PLD in Structured Literacy, building work happening, lots of sickness and continued Covid isolation and weather conditions that changed multiple times during the day. All of this happens with a smile, a laugh and a positive attitude.
Thank you to Sarah Hunt who has again co-ordinated the annual Book Fair. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to purchase some wonderful books and a fundraiser for the Learning Hub. Tomorrow is Book Character Dress Up Day and the teachers have a fun surprise again this year for the chidren's entertainment.
Have a lovely weekend.

Gospel for Sunday, 12th June, 2022
Sunday 12th June
John 16:12-15
This Sunday’s Gospel reading focuses on the mystery of the Trinity. God is the model for us of selfless love. There was no need for God to create our planet or the creatures that inhabit it; it was an act of selfless love. There was also no need for God to send His only Son to save us. That too was an act of selfless love. He then also sent the Holy Spirit to guide and nurture us. When reflecting on this Gospel, we can think of the times when we have been witness to selfless acts of love. As parents and caregivers, we are called to act selflessly multiple times a day. When we share selfless love in the family, we are sharing in the life of the Trinity.
Sparks of God - 2022, Term 2, Week 5
It may have been a short week but there was still enough time for these SPARKS to really shine! Well done to all of you!
This week we welcome the following students:
Skylar Garthwaite and her parents Stephen and Salena
Theo van Zyl, brother of Josiah in Room 8 and son of Louis and Brooklyn
We wish you both many happy and memorable years as part of the St. T's commuity.
Our Young Vinnies - Learning about social justice
It is lovely to see young people interested in social justice.
More on our Young Vinnies..........
Thank you for your generous contributions to the St. Vincent de Paul Foodbank at our Parish. The Vinnies delivered the food on Wednesday and got to meet 2 volunteers, put the food on the shelves, learn more about the foodbank and write messages to go in the food parcels going to families. Their assistance in helping the volunteers load the food parcels into their car was also of great help.
They are seeking more volunteers able to pack and deliver food parcels and would greatly appreciate contributions of the following items that they are low on:
Amanda Joe, Youth Coordinator Kapi-Mana, Society St Vincent de Paul
In Room 7 we have been learning about birthdays and the different ways they can be celebrated. We drew some birthday party scenes and wrote about them using the Six Dimensions of Dramatic Imagination.
Last week we made some Samoan flowers to celebrate Samoan Language Week. We used pastels and blended the colours.
We've also been busy learning how to tell the time using analogue clocks. We made clocks and practised telling the time using o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to.
Reporters: Ara, Alyni and AahilPossibly your very last chance!
Our first ever St. Theres'as Cook Book is well on its way and what a fabulous keepsake this will be for your children too! A huge thanks to all of those families who submitted their favourite recipes. There is still a chance for you to add yours - please do! It has been made very easy for everyone - you can enter your recipe details here or snap a picture of the recipe and email it to: sttheresascookbook@gmail.

TIN CAN COLLECTING: Can you help us please?
On Thursday, 23d June, we are celebrating Matariki, the Maori New Year. As part of this event, we are making tin can art by hammering holes in the side of cans to make candle lanterns. In order to make them, we will need lots of tin cans. You can help us by donating washed cans with no labels. Any size can will work but please no soda or tuna cans. Empty baked bean or tomato cans are suitable.
All contributions can be dropped off in your child's classroom and we would appreciate them by Friday, 10th June.
Thanks in advance!
