Samoan Language Week is an annual event that exists to celebrate the culture and language of Samoa. In 2022, Samoan Language Week starts on the 29th May and finishes on the 4th of June. This year's theme for Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa – Samoa Language Week is Fa'aāuāu le Folauga i le Va'a o Tautai – Continue the Voyage with Competent Wayfinders of the Ocean.
This week our children have shared prayers in Samoan and learned common phrases and greetings. They have also been practising hard on their Sasa for the battle today in the Hall. It was a lot of fun and a great way to end the week.
Thank you to those of you who were able to pop into school to talk with our Catholic Character Reviewers; your perspective helps the reviewers to get a full picture of the special Catholic Character of our school.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a teachers' only day, so no school for the children. The staff will be attending a day full of inspirational speakers and workshops along with the other schools in our Northern Porirua Kahui Ako.
Have a wonderful long weekend break and travel safely if you are heading away.

St. Theresa's Parish Report for this week
Last Sunday, we celebrated Father Alan Roberts' 50th Jubilee of being ordained. As well as a special Mass, it was fantastic to hear the joyous hum of people catching up with each and sharing a morning tea together. Father Alan wrote this for us all:
THANKS: I'd like to thank all who celebrated my Jubilee at Mass last weekend. A special thanks to the choir for their beautiful music and to all who planned the morning tea. The cake was a masterpiece both inside and out. For all your kind wishes, I am very grateful. St Theresa's has a special place in my heart. Ngā mihi Fr Alan Roberts
This weekend is Pentecost Sunday
On this day, the gift of the Spirit allowed the disciples to communicate even with those who spoke different languages, so this weekend we invite you to say the Lord’s prayer in any language you are comfortable with. We also invite everyone to wear something red to Mass if you can. Pentecost is the birthday of the Church so we will celebrate after the Mass with a shared morning tea. Please come along and enjoy speaking to others over a cuppa and a shared morning tea.
We're cooking with gas however,..............

TIN CAN COLLECTING: Can you help us please?
On Thursday, 23d June, we are celebrating Matariki, the Maori New Year. As part of this event, we are making tin can art by hammering holes in the side of cans to make candle lanterns. In order to make them, we will need lots of tin cans. You can help us by donating washed cans with no labels. Any size can will work but please no soda or tuna cans. Empty baked bean or tomato cans are suitable.
All contributions can be dropped off in your child's classroom and we would appreciate them by Friday, 10th June.
Thanks in advance!
Isabella Beach and Max Gair
