Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
Happy St. Patricks Day everyone.
We celebrated our first Powhiri for 2022 on Tuesday and it was lovely to be able to welcome most of our new families. Although we were a much smaller group than usual due to COVID absences, the children sang and performed with strength and pride and we were very proud of them. We are looking forward to the time when we can welcome everyone back fully, with a Mass and morning tea.
Wednesday was Swimming Sports Day for our Yr 4, 5 and 6s at Cannons Creek Pool. It was a fun morning and with a much smaller line up - again due to COVID absences. We whipped through the races in record time. The children enjoyed a slightly longer 'free swim' than usual. The highlight for me was seeing the way our children supported, cheered and clapped for one another. There was such a great feeling of support for each other, from all the children.
Our Year 2s and 3s held their own swim sessions here at school and I am told there was the same sense of support and friendship on display.
Today we held our first Immersion session on the field, to begin our Inquiry unit as a whole school. The children all took a part in retelling the legend of Awarua and Rereroa - ask your children why Mana Island is flat?
Have a lovely weekend.

Gospel for Sunday, 20th March, 2022
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable about a barren fig tree. The orchard owner wants the tree to be uprooted but the gardener shows patience, hopefulness, care and attention and allows the tree a year to see if it bears fruit. When reflecting on this Gospel, we remember that God is patient with us, even when we turn away from Him. God is always hopeful that we will ask His forgiveness. God doesn't give up on us. Instead, He continually attends to us, helping us. During Lent, we remember that God helps us, reaching out to us with love, patience and hopefulness that we will return to Him in love.
Sparks of God - 2022, Term 1, Week 5
Knocking everyone's socks off with the SPARKS from this group of children!
Keep up the fantastic work!
In Room 7, we have been learning about crazy taniwha who want to fly. We are retelling the story of Awarua, the Taniwha of Porirua Harbour. We made some giant wings for the taniwha's friend, the albatross and some tiny pink and purple wings for the taniwha. We wrote some instructions and drew some diagrams showing how to teach a taniwha to fly.

Just a wee reminder that anyone who bought a pool key for this summer season needs to return it by the end of this month please.
Netball for Years 5 and 6 - 2 more players needed
We urgently need two more Yr 5 or Yr 6 (beginner) players. If your child is interested in playing, please send them along to Mrs Fitzsimons and email her in the meanwhile, if you can. trish@stp.school.nz
What a lovely celebration we had on Tuesday morning! Once again, a very warm welcome to our new families.
