Kia ora St. Theresa's whanau,
As you will know, we are due to move into Phase 3 of our Red Level response to Omicron tonight. At Phase 3, the definition of who is a close contact changes and only household contacts will need to isolate for 7 days. People who test positive for COVID will still need to isolate for 10 days. This means that unless your household is isolating due to having a positive case in the house, all children are able to attend school. Please be assured that we will continue to follow MoH and MoE guidelines and update our response plans accordingly.
Thank you for continuing to keep your children at home if they are unwell. We have had a higher number of absences than normal at this time of year, due to a range of illnesses and keeping children home helps to reduce the spread of common bugs.
In 2021 we were fortunate to receive a number of grants to purchase a range of resources across the school. Our thanks go to Jacqui Reading for co-ordinating and submitting these applications. We also thank the following:
Four Winds Foundation - $3669 for decodable readers
Knights of the Southern Cross - $2148 for Junior Literacy resources
Hutt Mana Charitable Trust - $3000 to go towards new goals posts for our field
Pelorus Trust - $2000 towards iPads
Trust House Foundation - $2767 for decodable readers
Macarthy Trust - $2000 Library books
We are looking forward to our annual 'Beach Picnic' tomorrow. The weather looks to be good for the day and we have checked to see that the beach is open. You are all very welcome to join us.
Have a great weekend, stay well and safe.

Gospel reading for Sunday, 27th February, 2022
Luke 4:1-13
In this Sunday's Gospel, we hear of how Jesus was tempted by the devil in the desert. In each of the temptations described, Jesus was faced with the choice of spending His time and energy on activities that would lead Him away from God. We are called to reflect carefully on what we spend our time doing. Are the activities we are doing bringing us closer to God? Our Lenten practices prepare us to choose God above everything else in our lives.
Welcome to two new students this week
We're very happy to welcome Henry Wakefield and Evie Hope to Room 2 this week.
Henry is the son of Hamish and Olivia and brother of Tom in Room 8.
Evie is the daughter of Matt and Jess and little sister of Esmee (Rm 7) and Olive (Rm 6).
We wish you both many happy years as part of our St. T's community.
Room 6 have been busy learning lots of swimming skills. We have been practising freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. We are getting better and better each day. Thanks to Liv, Katie and Rose for helping us get better. We have also been busy learning how to make cardboard attach in different ways.
Our Beach Picnic can still go ahead in Red Level because we are outdoors and parents are welcome to attend.
9.30a.m. Children have their morning tea at school
10a.m. Assemble outside Room 8
10.30a.m. We will be at the beach!

Please let your child's classroom tacher know if you will be coming along with us.

Please book your interview slot as soon as possible.
Emergency Reunification Drill - Thursday, 3rd March - 2p.m.
Emergency Reunification Drill
As part of our school emergency plan, we need to hold a whole school Evacuation and Reunification Drill. This will be held on Thursday, 3rd March. Your child needs to be collected from Mo Street, Plimmerton Heights, at 2.15 pm.
Three things you need to do:
Ø Update your emergency contact details ASAP.
Ø Collect your child/ren from Mo Street on the day of the drill at 2.15 pm. Collection point will be outside the row of containers on the left.
Ø Organise your emergency contact person to collect your child/children if you are unable to do so.
If your child needs to catch the bus on that day or is attending our After School Care Programme, they will return to school with a teacher in time.
Please note: Your child will only be released to adults listed on your emergency contact list.
Helpers for Reunification Drill - Thursday, 3rd March
We require one adult per class to walk with us up to Mo Street in Plimemerton Heights for our reunification drill on Thursday, 3rd March. Please let your classroom teacher know if you can help. We will be leaving school at 1.45 p.m., aiming to be at Mo Street by 2.15 p.m.
School photographs - POSTPONED
Due to the high number of students unable to attend school due to illness or restrictions, we have decided to postpone having our school photographs taken this term. Photographs will now be taken in October.
All children in Years 3 - 6 have been given an order form for our school hoodie (Optional!). If you intend ordering one for your child, the closing date is Friday, 4th March. No late orders will be accepted.
Goodtime Music Academy - on site teaching
Goodtime Music Academy teaches here at St. Theresa's Catholic School and is taking enrolments for 2022 in-school music lessons now. If you want your child to be a part of these award-winning music lessons and may not want to commit to taking your child anywhere after school, then in-school lessons may be the solution for you. Children can learn in a group setting and choose from drums, guitar, keyboard, ukulele or can try the 'Intro to Music' course.
Please visit www.
Easter Raffle Mufti/Non-uniform Day
We are holding a mufti/non-uniform day in aid of the St Theresa’s Catholic school Easter Raffle. On Friday, 4th March, children can wear mufti/non uniform in exchange for an item for the Easter hampers. In addition to Easter-themed confectionery items, some great ideas include Easter decorations, bottles of wine, non-perishable nibbles, gift cards – anything you think would be welcomed for an Easter celebration. There will be boxes in each classroom where children can place their Easter item.
Next week we will send home ten raffle tickets to each family to sell on to friends and family. We have plenty of spares available should you need more and you have until 14th April to sell your tickets.
This is a wonderful opportunity to support our School and all money raised will go towards the new goal posts on the field.
Thank you all in advance, for your support.
The Parish are taking enrolments for the 2022 programme. Please email Jocelyn Bryant at their office if you would like to enrol your child. st.theresas@xtra.co.nz
