Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora whanau
Last Thursday we held our Dramatic Inquiry parent information evening. Thank you to those children who so confidently shared their learning and to the whanau who were able to make the evening. It was wonderful to be able to share the professional development the staff have been doing and showcase the way this is implemented in the classroom. Thank you for the positive feedback we received and the enthusiastic way you participated.
A huge thank you to the whole community for supporting our Staff Only Day last Friday. The teaching staff worked with Julie Rodgers from NZCER to further develop our understanding of Mathematics in the New Zealand Curriculum, using the PaCT Learning Progressions and creating Rich Tasks for Mathematics. We also spent the afternoon working on our Local Curriculum. This was an opportunity for some very focussed work.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel reading for Sunday, 6th September, 2020
Prayer to bless our togetherness in a pandemic that holds us apart
This is the first in a series of prayers by Fr James Lyons during a time when many people are unable to meet with those they love.
The Herod Virus
Jesus, Mary, Joseph.
To escape the wrath of Herod, you isolated yourselves in Egypt, far from the support of family and friends.
We, too, are separated from many loved ones.
Our “Herod” is a virus putting all at risk.
Border closures prevent travel, making reunion impossible.
You know the anguish of separation and how the unknown gives birth to fear.
Strengthen the aroha that binds us, the wairua that holds us close.
Gentle us in this time of uncertainty to believe, to trust, to hope.
Amen.
[Matthew 2:13-15]
Caring for Creation - St. T's children doing a neighbourhood clean up!
Our children will be participating in this and you are invited to help and support us on the day.
Friday, 11th September from 2p.m. onwards.
Gloves and rubbish bags will be provided.
St. T's Season of Creation initiative update 4 newsletter is attached. Well worth a read.
Room 10 has been studying an artist called Hayley King, who operates under the name FLOX. Her artwork features strong colours and stencil shapes. We have created some pieces of work inspired by FLOX and the research we have been doing into endemic animals and birds of New Zealand as part of our Dog Squad inquiry. We will share our work on SeeSaw as soon as they have been completed. They are looking fantastic and will make great Calendar Art.
