Donna McDonald - Principal's Note
Hello, Kia ora, Talofa lava, Hola, Namaste, Mabuhay, Ciao, Kia Orana, Ahalan, Konnichiwa, Ni hao, Selam, Xin chao, Bonjour, Bula, Dzien/Dobry, Shalom, Dia duit, Mauri, Halo, Bom dia, Gidday, Gutentag Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Level 1, woo hoo we did it! What fantastic news it was to hear that NZ now has no active cases of COVID-19 in the country and we were able to move to Alert Level 1. This does allow us to move more freely around the school and community and of course, supports the feeling of being back to 'normal' again. We will be continuing with our attention to handwashing, daily Zoono and using hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day. We also ask that if you or your children are sick that you continue to stay at home and of course, we will be keeping the drop off and pick up system the same until the end of term. However, we will be having our first full school Assembly tomorrow in the hall, hosted by Room 10 and you are all very welcome to join us at 9a.m.
This week has seen a flurry of building activity happening around the school, which kicked off over the weekend by the removal of the Junior playground (formely known as the "Littly"). Our thanks go to M3 Construction Ltd who very generously donated the use of their diggers and trucks for our team of parents to use and Simon Barber from Jennian Homes who saved us many hours and helped keep costs down by allowing us to dump several truck loads of fill next door.
The children in Room 2 were inspired by all the work happening around the school, to build a tower.
Our PB4L reward this week has been voted on and we will be having a 'Wheels Day'. This starts at 9.30a.m. and the children are welcome to bring any wheels they choose. There will be a track marked out and all classes have an alloted time to help with congestion and Health & Safety. The children will be supported in the morning and shown were to store their wheels until their time slot.
Have an amazing first weekend in Level 1, enjoy being out and about a bit more freely.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Parking in James Street - Pick up and drop off times specifically!
PLEASE DO NOT park on any yellow lines! That says it all.
This week we warmly welcome Lucy Barber, sister of Brooke (and Ted) and daughter of Luke and Bronagh. Lucy has joined the children in Room 3 and we wish her and her family many happy years here at St. T's.
There was huge excitement over the weekend removing the Junior playground and retiring it to a new forever home with the Blanchard family. After over 20 years of service it was time for a modern new look.
A huge thank you to Craig Ringrose, Keith Ringrose, Brendan Gilmour, Rob Mallon and Paul Taylor for giving up their weekend to remove the existing playground and prepare the grounds for the new one.
Thanks also to Toni Wilson, Becky Taylor-Mallon and Ann Taylor for keeping the workers fed and watered and for project managment.
Work has started on our new play area and we will keep you updated.

Message to us from the Bee Healthy Regional Dental Service:
Due to COVID Levels 3 and 4, we have had to reassesses our van visits to schools and unfortunately we are now unable to complete all our van visits for this year due to the lockdown and closure of schools during this period. We are prioritising schools with children with a high risk of dental decay and as St Theresas School is low risk, the mobile van will not be visiting in 2020. However, we will be prioritising your school early in 2021.
Appointments are available at our hub clinics if parents have any concerns regarding their child’s dental care or need to update their contact details. We can be contacted on 0800 TALK TEETH (825583).
