Donna McDonald - Principal's Note
Hello, Kia ora, Talofa lava, Hola, Namaste, Mabuhay, Ciao, Kia Orana, Ahalan, Konnichiwa, Ni hao, Selam, Xin chao, Bonjour, Bula, Dzien/Dobry, Shalom, Dia duit, Mauri, Halo, Bom dia, Gidday, Gutentag Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Our first week in Level 2 has been amazing. The chilly mornings haven't managed to dampen the huge smiles and sunny greetings we have been receiving at the gate every morning. Thank you so much to our whole wonderful community for the way you have embraced this new way of dropping off and picking up your children. Thank you for your messages of support, offers of hot drinks and food and the way that you have all supported your children to come back in such a positive way.
During the next few days we will be working with the children and staff to create a 'bubble installation" to mark this very important time in history in a positive way. The children have been asked to think about how they felt in their bubble while praying in colour and then recreate their bubble as part of a whole school piece. We look forward to unveiling this to the community once we can have you all back on site.
During level 3, I was able to meet with CREO, the company who are undertaking the work on our new playground. This is now set for early to mid June to begin construction which is very exciting. We are very fortunate to have Craig Ringrose and his team of helpers removing the exisiting playground and preparing the ground for our new play area.
A huge thank you to Murray and Susan Woodley for the fundraising thermometer that has been sponsored by Tommy's Real Estate. This is going to be a wonderful visual for us as we continue to raise funds for the ongoing development of the playground.
As we continue to work through this term and navigate between Level 2 and the prospect of Level 1 arriving, we are very aware of not losing some of the positives that have come out of this crazy time. Next week, we will be reviewing how things are going and will send out a short survey to get your feedback, talk to the children to get their feedback and reflect as a staff and Board.
Until then here are 5 things I have learnt during Level 2:
1. Our children are amazing, resilient, flexible and positive individuals. They breathe life into the school buildings and grounds and remind us why we are here.
2. We have an amazing supportive community who work together as a team.
3. Although we have all been in the same sea and on the same journey, we have not been in the same boat, and there are so many different stories to tell.
4. It's ok to ask for help!
5. Hand sanitiser and handwash dry your hands out - so you need a really good moisturiser!!
Have a happy and safe weekend.

This week we welcome Zara Sichampanakhone, sister of Kyle and daughter of Kare and Susie and Alexandra Bennett, daughter of Samuel and Anastasia who started school under the strangest conditions!! Who would have guessed?
They have both joined the children in Room 3.
We also welcome Jannah-Grace Vannathy to Room 6. She is the daughter of Bok and Johanna.
We are very happy to have you all as part of our school community and wish you many happy years at St. T's.
Gospel reading for Sunday, 24th May
Gospel Reading: Mt 28:16-20
Jesus’ eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee, where
Jesus had told them to meet him. They saw him and
worshipped him, but some of them doubted.
Jesus came to them and said: “I have been given all authority in
heaven and on earth! Go to the people of all nations and make
them my disciples. Baptise them in the name of the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have
told you.
“I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.”
We have had a fun time back at school seeing all our friends and doing some fun activities. Room 6 has learnt about 2D shapes and symmetry. Did you know that a decagon has 10 corners and 10 sides?
We have been collecting leaves and looking at our favourite birds to make some art. It was really hard at the start doing rubbings of leaves but we are starting to get better. It's great to be back.
Yay!! A new school baby! Congratulations to the Ah Kuoi family on the birth of their baby; a brother for Nove, Eseta and Penina. Many blessings on the whole family.
