Tikanga Maori
St. Theresa’s offers Kapa Haka to all students over the course of each year. Tutors come into our school and teach our children Maori songs, Kapa Haka and Te reo Kori (stick games).
We have a kuia, Mrs. Shirley Kelland, who leads children through powhiri and prepares children by teaching them correct protocol, including waiata and karanga.
Our school welcome always includes a powhiri and we continually look for ways to integrate Tikanga Maori into all we do and to involve the Maori community in this.
