Code of Conduct
As a Catholic school, St Theresa’s works to promote the Gospel values of the school (refer Values Statement). The school’s Code of Conduct serves to help children be respectful of themselves, others, God and the environment. We want to ensure a fair and consistent approach that will promote a safe, orderly and positive class and school environment for effective teaching, learning and social interaction. The underpinning value is respect for the dignity of others which assumes that each person has rights and responsibilities which they are helped to live out each day.
The children of St Theresa's School are expected to show respect for themselves and others in all they do at school.
The evidence of this will be their ability and willingness to:
1. Carry through instructions given by all teachers and adult helpers.
2. Respect others verbally.
3. Respect others physically.
4. Respect all property.
5. Play and move around the school in a safe manner.
6. Respect the rights of yourself and others to learn and play.
7. Use the computer appropriately.
· Detention
· It is the responsibility of the teacher who gives a child a detention to log the name and reason for the detention.
· Staff are rostered on detention supervision.
· Children on detention report to the class of the teacher on Detention Supervision (Tuesday and Friday) where they are to write letters of apology. They also have time to reflect on better choices they could have made.
· “Time Out” may be used as detention to replace the above format in consultation with the Principal. Parents may also need to be informed.
